MATCH BETTING ODDS

Real Betis come into this game as second favourites despite home status following their 4-1 defeat at Old Trafford last week, they are 13/5 to win at home and a massive 25/1 to overturn the three-goal deficit and qualify for the next round.

Man United come into this fixture at 21/20 in the betting to win and 1/1000 to qualify for the next round, indicating our traders just cannot see the club not getting to the next round of the Europa League.

THE FORM – REAL BETIS V MAN UNITED

REAL BETIS FORM

Betis would’ve been disappointed following their 4-1 defeat in the previous leg in Old Trafford, eventually losing out by three goals despite the scoreline being one goal a piece at half-time. On the back of that defeat Betis, last Sunday drew 1-1 away to Villareal in La Liga.

Notably, they rested most of their starting eleven from the start with Germán Pezzella and Guido Rodríguez starting both clashes and the latter coming off early in the 46th minute. It’s clear that Betis have not thrown in the towel just yet and will have a fresh eleven on Thursday.

MAN UNITED’S FORM

Man United put in a strong second performance last Thursday to beat Betis 4-1 on the night. Remarkably, the XG for this fixture was Man Utd (4.18) 4-1 (0.37) Real Betis which meant that the club had created more goal-scoring opportunities than Liverpool had against them in their hammering the previous Sunday.

At the weekend they played out a 0-0 draw at home to Southampton which was not helped by the dismissal of Casemiro in the 34th minute.

REAL BETIS V MAN UNITED PREVIEW

REAL BETIS ATTACK

Betis will have been disappointed with their inability to create chances in Old Trafford with an XG of only 0.37. Despite this low XG created, there were signs in the first half that if things clicked they could have been dangerous with elements of their free-roaming, rotating attack and relentless front press on display.

The key man we earmarked last week was Borja Iglesias who was inexplicably dropped for the first leg, but he was back in the team at the weekend and back in the goals too making it eleven goals and five assists in twenty-nine games this season for the Spaniard. He was taken off in the 82nd minute on Sunday, surely he has to start on Thursday night?

MAN UNITED’S DEFENCE

The 4-1 victory in the first leg, conceding an XG of 0.37 vs Real Betis along with the 0-0 draw at home to Southampton would suggest an air-tight defence but that is certainly not the full story. Last week we proposed that in preparation for the free-flowing Betis attack, Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw could make way for Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Tyrell Malacia.

While this was not the case Diogo Dalot did make way at half-time with the sides 1-1 as he struggled to cope with even a disjointed Betis attack. David De Gea in net also had some ropey moments, particularly in possession during the first half of the first leg and I suggest this will be an area Betis look to exploit with their fast press.

MAN UNITED’S ATTACK

The previous leg could almost be considered a minor masterclass in efficient attacking football from the club as they scored four goals from an XG created of 4.18 main man Marcus Rashford scored along with Antony, Bruno Fernandes and Weghorst capped off a brilliant European Night for the club with the fourth and his first for the club in Europe. Man United will be hoping that their attack can click into gear again on Thursday night and even if there is some mild rotation expect at least a few of the scorers from the first-leg to start in the return fixture.

With Cheltenham Festival week in full swing we caught up with former star Man United striker Dwight Yorke who gave us the inside scoop on what it was like around Carrington Cheltenham week when Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge.

REAL BETIS DEFENCE

Betis will be disappointed with the number of chances they gave up in the first leg despite having the defensive protection of Portuguese International William Carvalho in front of the back four.

Expect Betis to attempt the style of play we originally expected in the first leg which will be key to their attack also with the defenders rotating with the midfielders and vice-versa. However, this again could leave them wide-open to the counter-attack as they go in search of goals.

REAL BETIS v Man United Prediction

Prediction: Manchester United 2-1 Real Betis

Man United should have enough about them again going forward to win this one even if Marcus Rashford does start from the bench. Garnacho remains my pick-to-be anytime goal-scorer.

However, Betis have to go for it and with insecurities and deficiencies still evident in the Man United defence expect them to score also.

REAL BETIS v Man United – GOALSCORER BETTING ODDS

Marcus Rashford is the favourite in the first goalscorer betting market at a price of 4/1 and given the incredible run of form he's been in over recent months it doesn't look a bad price at all. The only worry you might have with Rashford in the first goalscorer betting is if he starts from the bench in this game.

As mentioned above Garnacho is the pick for anytime goalscorer at odds of 11/4.
