Former Boss Backed To Reclaim Celtic Hotseat From Rodgers
Ange Postecoglou is the early 5/4 favourite to be appointed the next permanent Celtic manager according to the betting with BOYLE Sports.
Brendan Rodgers sensationally quit the Parkhead hotseat on Monday as a breakdown in relations with the Celtic hierarchy was laid bare in a scathing statement from major shareholder Dermot Desmond.
Now the man who Rodgers replaced in the dugout in 2023 is being backed for a shock return, with Postecoglou leading the betting following his recent stint in charge at Nottingham Forest, which was brought to an abrupt halt after just 39 days.
Martin O'Neill Returns To Parkhead
Another former Hoops boss Martin O’Neill, who has taken the reins on a temporary basis, is 7/1 third favourite in the list of likely candidates to get the nod for a long-term appointment, as is Shaun Maloney, who is working alongside O’Neill as they prepare to take charge of Wednesday’s home fixture against Falkirk in the SPL.
Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna is rated 4/1 second favourite, while the man under whom he coached at Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has attracted some early support at 10/1.
Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BOYLE Sports said:
“Brendan Rodgers’ exit was a twist we weren’t expecting so soon, but punters are already piling in on the prospect of Ange picking up where he left off and it appears plenty of fans would welcome a familiar face in the dugout.”
