It was another remarkable day for the Irish on Day 3 at the 2021 Cheltenham Festival with six of the seven winners trained in Ireland but we have been left counting the cost!
Unlike the first two days, favourite punters were left deflated after Envoi Allen suffered a fall in the opener, the Grade One Marsh Novices’ Chase.
The unfortunate mishap from would be banker Envoi Allen got the firm out of big trouble on winter liabilities following numerous multiple bets with 9/1 chance Chantry House giving the English their only winner of the day for Nicky Henderson.
The day turned towards the punter with the Irish trained winner of the Stayers’ Hurdle, Flooring Porter, who had drifted from 8/1 to 12/1 with many punters prepared to take on former champ Paisley Park.
Rachael Blackmore landed her fifth winner of the week in the Grade Two Mares' Novices’ Hurdle at 5/1 before the last race favourite Mount Ida (3/1) came from an impossible position and traded at 1000/1 on the machine with a circuit to go to win and put the punters well in front on the day and on the week thanks to a brilliant ride from Jack Kennedy.
So it leaves the layers to try and redeem anything from the four days on Friday with some excellent racing to look forward including the big one, the Gold Cup.
Bet on Day 4 here.
