PSG v Real Madrid Preview
PSG’s Form
What a season it has been for PSG! Though they had the high-profile departure of Superstar Mbappe, along with a multitude of others, including Ugarte and Simons. The Pre-Season decision to go with an initialsmaller, close-knit squad before the key additions of Safonov, Neves, Pacho, Doué and Kvaratskhelia (in January). They have already landed a quadruple, including that elusive Champions League success after hammering Inter 5-0 in the final and have the opportunity to land their fifth trophy of the season at the Club World Cup.
Though a few “Superstars” have technically departed PSG in recent seasons, given the vast array of investment that the current squad has received and continues to do so, it’s still not short on quality from back to front. The attack gets the bulk of attention in defence, they’ve arguably the best Keeper and RB in World Football with Donnarumma and Hakimi, and the midfield three of Ruiz, Vithina, and Neves strike the perfect balance.
PSG opened their campaign with a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Atlético Madrid following goals from Fabian, Vithina, Mayulu and Lee. They were then narrowly defeated by Botafogo 0-1 I their second group game. In their final group game, goals from Kvaratskhelia and Hakimi gave them a 0-2 win over Seattle Sounders, which meant they topped Group B.
In the knockout stages, they battered Inter Miami by four goals after a brace from Neves, an own goal and a Hakimi clincher in the first half. They then continued to make light work of their opposition, Bayern 2-0 after goals from Doué and Dembele.
This is a brilliant PSG side to watch and arguably the most entertaining side about right now, and with Doué, Baracola, Kvaratskhelia and Ramos among an array of attacking choices, even if Dembele started from the bench again, they still can tear any side apart.

Real Madrid’s Form
Following their treble in the 23/24 season, this time around has been less successful for the Spanish Giant. They finished as bridesmaids to better rivals Barcelona in La Liga, Copa del Rey, Supercopa de España and getting knocked out of the Champions League by Arsenal. They had to settle for victories in the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
The Galáctico policy of signing high-profile, world-class players to boost the team's performance and global brand, in a sense, is the envy of every football fan. However, it doesn’t always translate into the most consistent of sides trying to mesh all the egos together, but when it comes off, it is always magical. This latest line of Superstars Mbappe, Bellingham, Trent and co will be the job of Xabi Alonso to mesh together following his appointment earlier this summer.
Real opened the tournament with a 1-1 draw against Saudi side Al-Hilal following a goal from Academy Product Gonzalo Garcia. That was followed up by a 3-1 against Pachuca despite being put down to 10 men early after Asencio was red carded, with Bellingham, Valverde and Guler getting on the scoresheet. They then concluded Group H with a 0-3 win over Salzburg with Vinicius, Valverde and another Gonzalo Garcia goal. In their Round of 16 tie, Gonzalo Garcia was the difference-maker again, scoring the sole goal in a 1-0 win over Juventus.
In the Round of 16, it took a goal from rising star Gonzalo Garcia in the 54th minute, which proved the difference between themselves and Juventus. They then booked their place in the semi-final following a 3-2 win over Dortmund after goals from Gonzalo Garcia again. Francisco Garcia and the clincher from a returning Mbappe.
Xabi Alonso, appointed Real Madrid manager in June 2025, has introduced a dynamic tactical approach, emphasising high pressing and fluid positional play. His early games show a shift toward a 3-4-3 or 4-3-3, focusing on compact defending and central progression to leverage stars like Bellingham and Mbappé.

Key Players To Watch
Ousmane Dembele – PSG
Following PSG’s exceptional season, where they won the quadruple and, most importantly of all, that elusive Champions League success. One name who stands above for their contribution to their trophies was France International Ousmane Dembele, whose 34 Goals and 15 Assists in 50 Games means he’s the market leader for the Ballon d’Or prize at the end of the year.
Dembele made his first appearance in the tournament off the bench in a 28-minute cameo against Inter Miami in the Round of 16, and though he only made a 20-minute cameo against Bayern, that was enough to seal a 2-0 win for PSG following his 96th-minute clincher. If he starts this gameodds of 5/1 for first scorer and 7/5 to score anytime are a real prospect.

Kylian Mbappe - Real Madrid
The undisputed main man in this latest line of Real Madrid Galácticos is French international Kylian Mbappé, who made his long-anticipated move from PSG last summer. There were great expectations on his shoulders following the move, but he delivered from his end with 44 Goals and 5 Assists in 58 Matches.
Mbappe returned from his absence, coming off the bench against Juventus, and playing 22 minutes. Like Dembele, he had to settle for a cameo in his last game against Dortmund, but also made a difference, scoring what proved to be the winner in a 3-2 win. For this game, he can be gotten at 9/2 to score first or 6/5 to score anytime.

PSG v Real Madrid Prediction & Best Bet
Prediction: PSG 2-1 Real Madrid
PSG have already landed a quadruple this season and are two games away from completing an unprecedented quintuple.
Real are full of star power from players purchased, but are complemented well with the performances of their Academy Players this tournament so far.
This could end up being the game of the tournament, but I think PSG may just edge the game on this occasion.
Best Bet: PSG To Qualify – 4/6
