PSG v Bayern Preview

PSG’s Form

What a season it has been for PSG! Though they had the high-profile departure of Superstar Mbappe along with a multitude of others, including Ugarte and Simons. The decision was to go with a smaller, close-knit squad with just the key additions of Safonov, Neves, Pacho, Doué and Kvaratskhelia (in January). They have already landed a quadruple, including that elusive Champions League success after hammering Inter 5-0 in the final.

In the initial Group Stage of the tournament, a 4-0 battering of Atlético Madrid, a narrow 0-1 loss against Brazilian outfit Botafogo and a 0-2 win over Seattle Sounders was enough for them to top the table ahead of Botafogo due to their goal difference of +5 compared to +1.  The Round of 16 brought them the task of playing former player Messi and Inter Miami, but they ran out comfortable 4-0 winners.

This is a brilliant PSG side to watch and arguably the most entertaining side about right now, and with Doué, Baracola, Kvaratskhelia and Ramos among an array of attacking choices, even if Dembele is injured for this game, they’ve more than enough to hurt any side.

Bayern’s Form

Following an end to their consecutive title-winning streak in 23/24, when they were denied their 12th in a row by Leverkusen. They returned to the summit of the Bundesliga, finishing 13 points ahead of defending champions Leverkusen. Elsewhere, they also reached the Quarter-Finals of the Champions League before being eliminated by finalists Inter.

Bayern opened the tournament in rampant fashion, beating Auckland City 10-0, the biggest winning margin of the competition so far (which will likely stay). They then overcame Argentinian outfit Boca Juniors 2-1, though a 1-0 defeat to Benfica in their final group game meant they had to settle for second place.  In the Round of 16, they put in another strong showing this time to defeat Flamengo 2-4.

It’ll be interesting to see how Kompany sets up his side in advance of playing the Champions League champions.  But their latest win over Flamengo showed a different card to their game, winning with 4 fewer shots (8) and only 49% of possession, which shows they can be effective on the break.

Key Players To Watch

Ousmane Dembele – PSG

Following PSG’s exceptional season, where they won the quadruple and, most importantly of all, that elusive Champions League success. One name who stands above for their contribution to their trophies was France International Ousmane Dembele, whose 33 Goals and 15 Assists in 50 Games means he’s the market leader for the Ballon d’Or prize at the end of the year.

Dembele made his first appearance in the tournament off the bench in a 28-minute cameo against Inter Miami in the last round, but he remains a doubt for this game. If he starts, though odds of 5/1 for first scorer and 11/8 to score anytime are a real prospect.

Dembele any time goal - 11/8

Harry Kane – Bayern Munich

This Club World Cup will be the conclusion of Kane’s second season with Bayern since moving to the club in search of trophies. However, despite 44 Goals and 12 Assists in 45 Games in his opening season, silverware still alluded him.

The 24/25 season was always going to be another chance at that for Kane, and finally, with Bayern reclaiming the Bundesliga this season, he won the first trophy of his career. This season he has 41 Goals and 14 assists in 50 Games, including 3 Goals and 1 Assist in 4 Club World Cup Games. If you fancy him to score in this game, he is 9/2 to score first and 11/8 to score anytime.

Kane first goal - 9/2
