Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest are 11/4 in the BOYLE Sports Premier League relegation odds after Ange Postecoglou’s poor start continued with a 2-0 defeat at Newcastle.
The Australian has won none of his first seven games in all competitions since succeeding Nuno Espirito Santo, picking up only one point in four top-flight fixtures.
With the Reds just a point above the drop zone, Postecoglou was in defiant mood, declaring: “If people want to make an assessment of me after three and a half weeks in which I’ve had six or seven games, there’s nothing I can do about that.
“But at the same time, there’s nothing wrong with things being tough. That’s okay. I love a fight. So it’s a fight, so it’s a struggle – so what?”
Promoted Teams
Promoted Trio Struggle
A bad weekend for the promoted clubs saw Burnley, Leeds and Sunderland all suffer defeats.
The Clarets are third from bottom on four points following a 2-1 loss at Aston Villa and head the relegation betting on 3/10.
Leeds were edged out 2-1 at Elland Road by Tottenham to remain on eight points and can be backed at 14/5 for a quick return to the Championship.
Sunderland failed to maintain their bright start to the season when beaten 2-0 away to Manchester United and the Black Cats, who have 11 points, are 6/4 to go straight back down.
Wolves
Pereira sees red but Wolves pick up point
Basement dwellers Wolves doubled their points tally by drawing 1-1 with Brighton at Molineux but are still odds-on to fall at 8/15.
Wanderers boss Vitor Pereira was shown a red card for kicking the ball in frustration towards the fourth official’s seated area after what he thought was a foul on Joao Gomes.
Assistant manager Luis Miguel commented: “I want to apologise for Vitor, he is not like that and does not do things like that but it was one second of frustration. These things happen when we are under pressure and (in) the games at this level.”
West Ham United
First Hammers defeat for Nuno
West Ham stayed second from bottom on four points following a 2-0 defeat at Arsenal and are 6/4 in the Premier League relegation odds.
Head coach Nuno, who drew his first match in charge at Everton, admitted: “Tough, very tough. We knew it, we expect it and it was really tough.
“Arsenal put us against the ropes for many parts of the game and we were not able to really go out and run. Parts of the game we defend well, but it was tough. It was a tough game.”
Brentford are quoted at 7/2 in this market after a 1-0 home loss to Manchester City left them in 16th place on seven points.
