Premier League Predictions & ACCA Selections For Matchday 28
Bournemouth to beat Sunderland @ 3/4
Bournemouth will hope to continue their push for European football against a Sunderland team who look to be running out of steam following a flying start to the season.
Andoni Iraola’s Cherries have climbed to eighth, two points behind Brentford in seventh, on the back of a seven-match unbeaten run which has included wins over Liverpool , Everton , Wolves and Tottenham .
Sunderland , in contrast, have dropped to 12th after losing four of their last five games and we envisage another day of disappointment for the flagging Black Cats.
Burnley to draw with Brentford @ 11/4
Burnley continue to fight for their lives near the foot of the table and victory over Crystal Palace followed by a last-gasp equaliser at Chelsea has lifted them to within eight points of safety.
That is still a huge gap to make up but a win over Brentford could make things interesting, especially as they now don’t have to face any of the current top six until late April.
Brentford suffered a surprise 2-0 home defeat to Brighton last time out, denting their chances of overhauling Liverpool in sixth place, but they have been in fine form since Christmas and should get something out of their trip to Turf Moor .
Newcastle to beat Everton with under 3.5 goals in total @ 8/5
Newcastle ought to be brimming with confidence after making it four wins in their last five matches with Tuesday’s 3-2 Champions League triumph over Qarabag , which sealed an emphatic 9-3 aggregate scoreline.
The Magpies will also feel they deserved more out of last weekend’s 2-1 loss at Manchester City and, with Eddie Howe’s men now in a five-match run of home fixtures, they will be eager to make serious headway.
Everton head to St James’ Park following successive home defeats to Bournemouth and Manchester United but their away form has been decent, picking up 11 points from their last five games on the road, so they could prove difficult for the improving Magpies.
Brighton to beat Nottingham Forest with over 2.5 goals in total @ 9/4
Brighton’s victory at Brentford would have come as a huge relief to the Seagulls after winning just two of their previous 15 league and cup games, but they cannot rest on their laurels.
They may be nine points clear of the relegation zone but have some testing matches coming up while the visit of fourth-bottom Nottingham Forest may not be straightforward either.
Forest brushed aside Fenerbahce 3-0 in Vitor Pereira’s first game in charge and were unlucky to lose to Liverpool in his second. Just over a year ago Forest were celebrating a 7-0 win over Brighton, but they would take a scrappy 1-0 victory this time around.
Wolves to draw with Aston Villa @ 5/2
Wolves play host to Aston Villa on Friday night with both sides looking for a positive result at Molineux to aid their respective ambitions at either end of the table.
Rob Edwards’ hosts need just two more points to pass Derby’s all-time Premier League record low of 11, which is likely to be one of Wolves’ main targets with relegation now almost a formality.
Villa , meanwhile, need to get their top-three challenge firing again after picking up just three points from their last seven games, with Manchester United breathing down their necks.
