With the third round of top-flight fixtures coming up this weekend, we’re highlighting four players to consider from the Premier League first goalscorer odds.

If all of our selections break the deadlock in their respective matches, punters could pick up a massive 1179/1 windfall from the accumulator.

Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Fernandes @ 5/1

The Manchester United captain will be determined to make amends for last week’s rare penalty miss at Fulham and Burnley could feel the backlash at Old Trafford.

Fernandes is invariably far more comfortable on home turf, with 13 of last season’s 19 goals in all competitions for the Red Devils coming in front of his own fans.

Matheus Cunha is a tempting alternative following a lively start at Craven Cottage, but with the Clarets expected to defend deep, it could fall to a Fernandes set-piece or shot from the edge of the area to open things up.

Richarlison

Richarlison @ 9/2

The Brazil international was heavily linked with a move away from Tottenham after struggling with injuries last term but seems to have been rejuvenated by the arrival of Thomas Frank and is taken to break the deadlock versus Bournemouth.

A lively performance against PSG in the European Super Cup and a double strike versus Burnley was followed up by an assist in an all-action display at Manchester City.

Richarlison then said: “After a long time, I was able to do a full pre-season. Since the PSG game, I’ve been playing with a rhythm that I’ve not had for a while - so I’ve been able to get into that. Now I want to be able to continue like this and play like this."

Jorgen Strand Larsen

The Norwegian forward is reportedly a target for Newcastle but can hopefully help Wolves to get ahead against Everton at Molineux.

Strand Larsen netted 14 times in the Premier League when on loan with Wanderers last season and was a threat in this term’s opening losses to Manchester City and Bournemouth, registering four shots on target from inside the box.

Tuesday’s late EFL Cup brace against West Ham after coming off the bench was a nice confidence boost and manager Vitor Pereira commented: “Jorgen is our player and very important for us.

“We will see what happens. I understand football, every player has a price - even (Lionel) Messi or Cristiano (Ronaldo) - but for me, he is very, very important.”

Chris Wood

Chris Wood @ 9/2

The New Zealand front man did us a favour when opening the scoring in Nottingham Forest’s 3-1 home win over Brentford, going on to double his tally, and is taken to strike again when West Ham visit the City Ground.

Wood got the ball rolling when the Reds prevailed 3-0 in this same fixture last November and went on to bag 20 top-flight goals, putting him joint-fourth in the Golden Boot table.

Although he will be 34 in early December, there have been no signs of the veteran marksman slowing up.
