Now the Premier League season has finally ended, we’ve decided to dish out some awards for some of the forgotten categories when the likes of the Best Player and Best Manager gongs are handed out.
Most Ill-Advised Quote Award
"Look at Tottenham. If you spend more than £100 million, you expect to be challenging for the league” said Brendan Rodgers at the start of the season.

The Greatest Mistake Award
Louis van Gaal’s made plenty of mistakes in his maiden season in English football but none were as entertaining as calling his veteran midfielder Michael Carrott. This blunder is only rivalled by his “Queens Park Raisins” faux pas.
Best Attempt at Integration Award
While previous Brits abroad like Steve McClaren and Joey Barton relied on heavily accented English to get them by at least Real Sociedad’s David Moyes attempted to learn the lingo.
Award For Most Poignant Moment
It all seemed so exciting back in the heady days of Autumn when superstar striker Radamel Falcao signed on loan for Manchester United.
However, his awe at United’s dressing rooms was possibly the only “amazing” moment involving the Colombian all season.
Best Celebration Award
Wayne Rooney responded brilliantly to newspaper stories about being sparked out by Phil Bardsley in his kitchen, with this knockout celebration.
Award For Best Summation of United & Liverpool’s Season
Gary Neville has forged a reputation as one of football’s greatest pundits, and rightly so. His summation that Liverpool facing United was akin to a couple of pub teams was a fair analogy of both clubs’ malaise at the time.
The Roy Walker “Say What You See” Award
Paul Scholes has got a bit of criticism for his punditry but at least he occasionally echoes what most viewers are thinking. Particularly when Robbie Savage is around.
The Hollyoaks Award For Worst Acting
Ahmed Elmohamady’s acting here is almost as bad as the blokes in the current Burger King ad. What made matters worse is that it was in his own box.
The Award For Bravery
Even Phil Jones had a laugh at himself for his bizarre defending against Arsenal but it was effective.
The Richard Dunne Award For Best Own Goal
It was the type of goal footballers dream of – a first-time volley just inside the box leaving the keeper with no chance. Unfortunately for Sunderland’s Santiago Vergini it was past his own keeper.
