The darts pro is predicting five-time Premier League champion Michael van Gerwen to have an epic night in Sheffield and has tipped the Dutchman up at 11/4 to win night 14.

Gary Anderson v Gerwyn Price

“Awaiting James Wade* will be the winner of Gary Anderson v Gerwyn Price. I think this will be a close match too. Gary was good last week in patches and Gerwyn has been inconsistent and didn’t have a great Euro Tour at the weekend."

"The Iceman has to fire it soon and this could be the night as he is running out of time if he wants to make the play-offs. I think he will edge out Anderson. There is obviously history between these players, but I think it’s long gone now and they always produce when they play each other."

"Gezzy needs a kick start here to move on for the year and I think he beats Gary to set up a semi-final with James Wade*.”

Michael van Gerwen v Peter Wright

“The third quarter-final is between Michael van Gerwen and Peter Wright and I can’t look beyond MVG. I think Michael has been the biggest beneficiary of this new format. He has been winning events and although they have been little events, it’s a massive thing to just get winning again."

"It has led to his 35th European Tour title win and his 3rd title this year. He is back winning and he will fancy winning the Premier League. Peter Wright is just not at it at the minute and has been very indecisive about his equipment again, so I think MVG will win this contest and run away with it."

"He has already beaten the Snakebite a few times in this competition so I can see that trend continuing.”

Michael Smith v Jonny Clayton

“The last quarter-final sees Michael Smith take on Jonny Clayton and I have been impressed with the Bully Boy in this Premier League. He just hasn’t managed to click everything into gear on the same night, but when he does we know what he can do, as we saw last week."

"Jonny is riding the crest of the wave. He tops the Premier League and is already into the play-offs, so he has a nice cushion. He goes up on that stage and is smiling and he enjoys it, he feels relaxed up there. I think he beats Smith and sets up yet another match with MVG."

“I think Gerwyn Price will beat James Wade* and make the final where he will face MVG. I’m expecting something from the Iceman sooner rather than later. He will be up against it as he will be against the darts, but I think he can get to the final and get himself in the mix, it’s much needed."

“From there I can’t see anything other than a Michael van Gerwen win. I think he will beat Jonny in the semi-finals and goes on to beat Gezzy in the final.”

*We await confirmation whether James Wade will participate in Sheffield due to medical issues.
