Poland v Netherlands Preview
Poland’s Form
Poland qualified for Euro 2024 following their playoff Group A victory, when they demolished Estonia 5-1 in the Semi-Final before overcoming Wales 4-5 on penalties following a 0-0 draw in the final. However, they were lucky to have had the playoffs after placing third in their original qualifying group behind the Czech Republic and Albania.
Following their playoff successes over Estonia and Wales respectively their form has shown signs of picking up momentum ahead of Euro 2024. During their pre-tournament friendlies, they won two from two matches first 3-1 against Ukraine and then 2-1 against Turkey, albeit both came under home comforts.
Poland has been managed by Michał Probierz since he was appointed on the 20th of September 2023. During qualifying the Poles experimented with several formations from 4-2-3-1 to 4-3-3 there was a clear desire to try and find something that clicked. Eventually settling on a 3-5-2 in the back end of 2023 and the start of 2024. Poland are a physical side that will be expected to pick up cards at the tournament along with winning their aerial battles.

Netherlands’ Form
The Netherlands qualified for Euro 2024 by finishing runners-up in their qualifying Group with 6 victories and 2 defeats to come 4 points behind group winners France but ahead of Greece, the Republic of Ireland and Gibraltar scoring 17 goals and conceding 7. Ironically, they have been drawn against France again.
2024 has seen this Dutch side go from strength to strength opening their campaign with a 4-0 victory against a Scotland side who had beaten nearly a year to the day for that game, they then went close with the Germans losing 2-1. Ahead of Euro 2024, they had two comprehensive 4-0 wins first against Croatia and then against Iceland.
The Netherlands are relatively tactically flexible with their clientele but are more than likely to use some iteration of a 4-3-3 or 3-4-1-2. They tend to average roughly 56.5% of possession, complete 86.9% of their passes and take 14.4 shots per game.
In his second stint as Dutch manager, he has a win rate of 66.67% after 10 wins and 5 defeats from 15 games.

Key Players To Watch
Piotr Zielinski - Poland
In the absence of Lewandowski who missed the first g (3roup game through injury along with Matty Cash who was also ruled out of the tournament for Poland. Napoli midfielder Zielinski (30) will have a huge tournament ahead of him as he adds to his 90 Caps for Poland and hopefully to his tally of 12 goals. He will be their main creative outlet at Euro 2024 with his 4.1 Shot Creating Actions and 3.95 Progressive Passes Received in the 92nd and 82nd percentile for all midfielders.

Xavi Simons – Netherlands
While this is far from a vintage Dutch side, they still have quality players from back to front at their disposal. Xavi Simons (21) is likely to pose their biggest attacking threat from either out wide or in attacking midfield following his 10 goals and 15 assists for RB Leipzig this season in 43 appearances. His most likely position for the Dutch is at RW where his 6.08 Shot Creating Actions and 0.36 Assists is in the 96th and 91st percentile for wingers and attacking midfielders.

Poland v Netherlands Prediction & Best Bet
Prediction: Poland 0-2 Netherlands
Poland have put some less-than-ropey qualifying form behind them in recent games but the loss of Lewandowski for this game and Cash for the tournament through injuries weakens their starting side considerably.
The Netherlands seem to be going from strength to strength under Koeman and are quietly gone under the radar, unlike previous tournaments. Although I’d still have questions about Koeman tactically in the later rounds they should be too good for Poland.
Best Bet: Netherlands Win + Under 3.5 Total Goals @ 23/20
