Pedro Mendes, speaking exclusively to BoyleSports, has urged Arsenal to make a move for a striker who lit up the Portuguese league last season.

The former Portugal international was glowing in his praise of the forward who would be the ‘perfect choice’ for the Gunners.

Mendes also spoke to us about a host of other rumoured transfer moves including two Premier League heavyweights that could be battling it out for Portugal star goalkeeper Diogo Costa, a potential landing spot for Bruno Fernandes if he forces an exit from Old Trafford, and why the 2024/25 Premier League season could be the most exciting yet.

Arsenal Should Invest £86 Million In This Portuguese League Star

Viktor Gyokeres would be worth £86 million for Arsenal.

He has been one of the most successful signings in the Portuguese league and what he achieved in scoring 43 goals and winning the title with Sporting is incredible.

Ruben Amorin has said there is no chance he will leave but if someone pays the buy-out clause then they won’t have a choice. He is powerful, runs into the channels, fights with defenders and he would be very difficult to replace for Sporting.

In the Premier League, he would be the typical striker and would do very well. If you look at football these days, he is a young player and scored 29 goals in Portugal last season, £86 million would be a fair price for Arsenal to pay.

He is different from the strikers Arsenal has at the moment with a different style of play so his success would depend on how they want to play. If they change their system to suit a striker then he is the perfect choice.

*Arsenal are 15/8 second favourites to win the 2024/25 Premier League title per the latest football odds at BoyleSports.

These Two Premier League Clubs Could Be Lining Up A Move For Portugal’s Diogo Costa

Diogo Costa made a save against Slovenia which was incredible and ensured Pepe’s Portugal career didn’t end in a mistake which means so much.

If that was a goal then of course Pepe's mistake will be connected to that forever. It would’ve been devastating for him and for me as well because Pep is a fantastic man and didn’t deserve that.

Diogo is a great goalkeeper and I think he's ready for the Premier League. He has everything that the Premier League demands from a goalkeeper - but it will have to be with a very top team.

With Ederson talking to Saudi Arabia, I think Manchester City would be a great move for Diogo, as would Chelsea, he has been used to that pressure at Porto.

Pedro Neto Ready For Move To Big Club This Summer

Pedro Neto is very quick but he also has incredible technique. He has had some injuries but when he is fit he has been amazing, we have seen that in the Premier League with Wolves.

He can unlock defences and turn games around, he is the type of player that every big team like Manchester United needs.

He has been in England for a few years now and I think he is ready to make the step to a bigger club like Manchester United.

A Return Home In Order For This Liverpool Forward?

I would like to see Diogo Jota at Porto. I think he is the type of player that would fit in there perfectly. He scores a lot of goals but Liverpool have so many options up front and he isn’t always a guaranteed starter.

He might not quite be at the level to be able to start in all of their games, but he hasn’t played as much as I expected.

Man City, Arsenal & Tottenham Should Come Calling For This Atlético Madrid Star

Joao Felix had a huge move to Atletico Madrid but the way that Diego Simeone sets up his team, it was not right for Joao from the start. He is a technical player and different to the player Simeone or Atletico wants.

He has struggled and he also struggled at Chelsea and Barcelona. Benfica would be a good move for him to settle but in the Premier League he would suit Manchester City, Arsenal or Tottenham.

Their style of play will give him space to work in with players getting in behind so he can pick out passes. At Chelsea, he didn’t have a lot of chances to do that.

Here’s Where Bruno Fernandes Could Go If He Forces Man United Exit

Bruno Fernandes has proved in the past that he is a great player, but when the team doesn’t perform and the players around him don’t perform he gets dragged down with them.

I can understand his disappointment at the end of last season, because everyone in that dressing room was disappointed.

But Bruno is one of the strongest players and the strongest characters in that dressing room and if Manchester United wants to start fresh and rebuild a team - they need Bruno in the middle of it.

But again, if he decides to move and teams come for him he would be a huge success at Bayern Munich.

Targets For Tottenham In Upcoming Season

Tottenham started so well under Ange Postecoglou but they failed to end the season the same way, they need to find a balance in those performances.

If you have a lot of highs but a lot of lows then you will get overtaken by the top teams. I think Tottenham should look at the top four and Champions League qualification, that would be a fantastic achievement and I think they can do it.

They need to make their mark in Europe again and start to become a Champions League regular which makes a statement. If Spurs can finish in the top four and win the FA Cup or the League Cup it would be great. They are not ready to challenge for the title.

Why The 2024/25 Premier League Season Could Be The Most Exciting Yet

The good thing from Arsenal’s point of view is that they are building a solid base of players and a squad that is making them stronger and stronger.

You can see a massive improvement in the last two seasons and if they keep going, this might be the season that they get to the title - they just can't afford to slip up at the end.

Manchester City don’t miss and when they get a chance they take it. I’m also curious to see Liverpool this season as well as Manchester United and Chelsea.

I think this is going to be a great Premier League season which has another title race of at least three teams which will be great for the game.

Chelsea and Manchester United completely underperformed last season and I don’t expect them to have seasons like that again. That’s what will make this the most exciting Premier League season for a long time because we have a lot of teams that really need to step it up.

These Teams Could Be In For Premier League Relegation Battle

The teams that have just been promoted are always contenders to go down again, it all depends on the base they have and the signings they can make in the summer.

A lot of change is not a good thing. If you sign too many players then you have to start again, they have to settle and by the time that happens it can already be too late, the gap can already be there.

The key thing for the promoted sides is to build on the base they have but not by too much, the Premier League is getting stronger and stronger, the clubs that are already there are strong and it’s always hard for the promoted teams which means they could all face relegation straight away.

They need to do their homework well, sign well and also be lucky with the players they sign. You can sign top players but that doesn’t mean they will settle straight away.
