Former Liverpool star Patrik Berger has revealed the 3 candidates worthy of the Liverpool manager job in an exclusive interview with BoyleSports.

Berger, who made 148 appearances for the Reds while scoring 28 goals, also gave his take on what is Jurgen Klopp’s legacy at Anfield, the potential of Xabi Alonso becoming Liverpool manager down the line plus offered us his Man United v Liverpool prediction.

Jurgen Klopp’s Legacy At Liverpool

Even if they don't win another trophy this season, it won't hurt his legacy at all at Liverpool Football Club. Over the nine years he has been at the club, he has already won so much.

Even if he wins nothing else this season, his legacy is secured. He has transformed that club from being mediocre to a genuine threat on a consistent basis.

They play fantastic football; they are so good that even neutral fans have to concede they are a really good team to watch. They always think about moving the ball forward, trying to be a threat and trying to score goals.

He has done a marvellous job over the 9 years.

Xabi Alonso Will Be Liverpool Manager One Day

The media can create narratives that actually sometimes don't exist; I read the news and always wait for an individual to confirm or deny rumours before putting any substance behind them. Don't get me wrong, I liked the rumour that Xabi Alonso was going to be the next Liverpool manager.

He played for the club, he knows the city, he knows the fans and he has done an amazing job at Leverkusen, so I was really impressed with him and I thought he could be the right choice. But I was surprised that he said he was going to stay, even though it is understandable because Leverkusen gave him the opportunity to start as a manager in the Bundesliga.

He's still so young and he might think that the Liverpool job is too early. He might think he needs more experience or more games, but I have no doubt that one day he will be managing Liverpool.

These Are The 3 Managers Worthy of Liverpool Job

There are three names that I have seen linked, who I believe are worthy candidates; Ruben Amorim would be a great choice for what he has done at Sporting Lisbon with such a young team.

Roberto De Zerbi was mentioned and Julian Nagelsmann as well. We could talk for hours, but we just have no idea where it is going to go.

*Ruben Amorim is the 4/6 favourite to become the next Liverpool manager per the latest football odds at BoyleSports.

Whoever Replaces Klopp Will Have Big Boots To Fill

Of course there are concerns, there is no one like that in the world who can come in and do a job even remotely similar to Jurgen Klopp. It is going to be tough, because he is leaving behind a very good team that doesn't need to change too much.

So even though there is a very good team there, a team that knows how to win trophies and play attractive football, it is all about the chemistry between the new manager and the team and what that is like.

It will be a tough job to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, put it that way!

Liverpool Have Everything In Their Hands In Premier League Title Race

It was an ideal weekend for me! Liverpool came back from a goal down quite early, but they always stick to their principles and try to play the same way all the time. You know they are always going to create chances and they have players that can hurt teams from every angle.

Brighton are a tough side, so it was nervy towards the end, but a great result for us after the international break. To then watch Man City and Arsenal draw shortly afterwards? The weekend couldn't have gone much better.

Now, we are the leaders and everything is in our hands. If we win every game between now and the end of the season we will be champions, it sounds very simple! If someone had said at the start of the season, with all of the new signings, that by April 1st we would be top of the table, we would have taken that and no one would have believed it.

Man United v Liverpool Prediction

Liverpool won't change the way they play, they've been so consistent over the course of the season so you know exactly what you're going to get from them. Obviously they lost this fixture in the FA Cup, which was obviously disappointing, but it could have gone either way.

Manchester United have made a habit of getting lucky towards the end of some games already this season. But I think Liverpool will make amends this time around because they know they need to win every single game to win the Premier League.
