The Return of Trump

The former President called the US ‘a nation in decline’ and vowed to make America ‘great and glorious again’ as he finally confirmed his intentions from his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida on Tuesday.

Trump however has found himself in the firing line over the past week as he was blamed for underwhelming Republican gains at the midterm elections. Ron DeSantis meanwhile bucked the trend as he was re-elected governor of Florida by a landslide in an apparent endorsement of his Presidential credentials.

Betting Odds On Trump To Be Next US President

BoyleSports rate Trump and DeSantis neck-and-neck at 5/4 apiece in the Republican race even though DeSantis is yet to throw his hat in the ring, but it’s the Florida governor who is rated the more likely of the two to oust the Democrats from the White House.

DeSantis is now the favourite to win the Presidential election with his odds more than halved since the midterms at 9/4 from 5/1, while Trump’s chances have drifted to 10/3 from 2/1.

Biden Seeks Second Term

Joe Biden is 6/4 favourite to stand for a second term for the Democrats ahead of Kamala Harris (5/1), but the incumbent trails the Republican candidates as 4/1 third favourite in the early forecasts on the election winner.

Donald Trump's Previous Presidency

Donald Trump was elected as the 45th President of the United States of America after a surprise election win over Hillary Clinton. Trump defied the odds and betting at the time which had all but nailed on Clinton to become the first female President in US history.

Trump was inaugurated on January 20th 2017 and his term came to an end four years later on the same date in 2021 after he was defeated by current President Joe Biden in what was a very tight election race that came all the way down to the wire. That election was full of controversy too as Trump claimed and still claims to this day that there was election fraud involved with the vote counting process.

Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “The will he, won’t he saga is finally at an end, but the early trends suggest Donald Trump is up against it this time. A very tight Republican race is on the cards, but Trump has been overtaken as favourite for the White House and at 9/4 from 5/1 for victory in 2024, it’s Ron DeSantis who is the darling of punters at the minute.”
