‘Roma’ is the new favourite to land the Oscar for Best Picture this year as voting for the nominations draws to a close.

The move came after a week of betting following the Golden Globes ceremony, where hot favourite ‘A Star Is Born’ was beaten to best drama motion picture by ‘Bohemian Rhapsody,’ while Roma was awarded the gong for best foreign language film.

Roma has since been backed into 11/8 favourite from 3/1 to take the Oscar for best picture, with A Star Is Born now 5/2 second favourite having been the 5/4 frontrunner prior to the Golden Globes.

Rami Malek’s depiction of Freddie Mercury in the Queen biopic saw him pick up a Golden Globe and he is now 4/9 favourite from Even money to take the Oscar for Best Actor.

The Best Actress category looks set to be a competitive betting heat, with both Glenn Close and Olivia Colman sharing the bulk of early support from punters. Both saw their odds shrink after picking up Golden Globes in separate Best Actress categories, with Close the 1/2 favourite for ‘The Wife,’ while Colman is now 5/2 second favourite from 4/1 for her portrayal of Queen Anne in ‘The Favourite.’
