Heather Humphries is the new frontrunner to replace Frances Fitzgerald as the Tánaiste after BoyleSports reopened betting following the market being suspended on Tuesday evening off the back of hefty bets.

Punters initially latched onto Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Simon Coveney, following confirmation that Fitzgerald would be vacating the position at lunchtime on Tuesday.

Betting was suspended after Coveney was backed into the red hot 1/3 favourite from 4/1""

However as the dust of Tuesday settles, Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphries is now the 11/8 favourite.

It is a massive shake up in the betting as Humphries odds have been slashed in from 16/1, whilst Coveney has been eased right out the 15/8 second favourite.

Heather Humphries is now seeing steady support to succeed Francis Fitzgerald as Tánaiste, with some punters sitting on some very profitable bets having snapped up her early price.
