Sidarian Ready To Set Dundalk A Blaze

Following the draw for the Matthews.ie International at Dundalk, Boylesports have placed the Graham Holland-trained Sidarian Blaze as the favourite for the €20,000 Matthews.ie Dundalk International.

Blaze, who was one of the favourites for the English Derby earlier in the year when trained by Charlie Lister OBE, has returned to Ireland with a bang when winning the Boylesports Race of Champions in impressive fashion in Tralee back in June.

Boylesports Hero, owned by John Boyle, is challenging Sidarian for favouritism at 15/8 after his scintillating start to the year having already landed the €80,000 Anne and Con Kirby memorial in Limerick and the Produce Stakes in Clonmel.

Mind the Net, who was favourite for this year’s English Derby final, is available at 7/2. Paradise Madison, who is the fastest greyhound to ever cover 525 yards, is 6/1 and Metro Jack, an English Derby semi-finalist, is double figures at 10/1 while the outsider of the six is Northern Irish Derby winner, Atiyboy, at 16/1.

The betting suggests it could be a match between Sidarian Blaze and Boylesports Hero but the break will be crucial in this race as whatever leads on the short run to the bend will hold a huge advantage.

Mind the Net showed the pace he possesses in this year’s English Derby and if he could get across from Trap 6, he would have a big say. Paradise Madison needs to find his form from last year if he is to win but at 6/1, if he does that, he could be a very big price. The inside two runners will probably need luck to win this very strong race.
