Sosie, Delacroix and Camille Pissarro head chasing pack
Ombudsman has been backed into 5/6 favourite with BOYLE Sports ahead of Saturday’s Eclipse at Sandown Racecourse after six runners were declared for the Group 1.
The John & Thady Gosden-trained four-year-old was last seen running out an impressive winner of the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot, and punters are expecting another big performance, backing the son of Night Of Thunder into 5/6 from a high of 6/4.
Andre Fabre’s Sosie is rated the biggest rival to the favourite by the oddsmakers having already notched up back-to-back Group 1 successes this season in the Prix Ganay and Prix d’Ispahan and is 4/1 to make his first racecourse start away from France a winning one.
Derby disappointment Delacroix (11/2) is one of two representatives for Aidan O’Brien, who also runs French Derby winner, Camille Pissarro (13/2) while Godolphin will also field 2000 Guineas winner, Ruling Court (14/1).
Brian O’Keeffe, spokesperson for BOYLE Sports, said:
“The Gosden’s have hit the target in the big races plenty this season and punters are very keen on Ombudsman continuing the trend. It’s a red-hot field with Sosie and Camille Pissarro lurking, but he’s a rapid improver and that’s what people are latching onto.”
