Former Brighton Boss 7/2 From 14/1 For Old Trafford Job
Market Mover De Zerbi
Roberto De Zerbi has made an eye-catching move in the betting to replace Erik ten Hag as Manchester United manager over the past 12 hours, with BoyleSports slashing the former Brighton boss into 7/2 from 14/1.
Part owners Ineos are rumoured to have contacted representatives of De Zerbi amid a review of Manchester United’s season as the axe hangs over Ten Hag despite last weekend’s FA Cup Final victory over local rivals Manchester City.
Pochettino Favourite
The latest betting trends make De Zerbi third favourite on the shortlist of potential replacements, putting him hot on the heels of Mauricio Pochettino, who is favourite at 11/8 for the top job at Old Trafford should Ten Hag be shown the door.
McKenna Less Likely
Former United coach Kieran McKenna enjoyed a brief spell as frontrunner but has now been eased to 5/2 from 6/4 following reports he is set to commit his future to Ipswich Town by putting pen to paper on a new contract. Thomas Tuchel (9/2) also remains prominent in the betting, but the chances of the Red Devils recruiting England manager Gareth Southgate are getting more unlikely according to odds of 12/1.
Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said:
Gareth Southgate and Kieran McKenna are both trending in the wrong direction, but Roberto De Zerbi is now being picked out as a prime candidate if the review at Old Trafford spells the end for Erik ten Hag.”
