Moneyline Betting Odds

The Baltimore Ravens are the 5/6 favourites ahead of this game. The Buffalo Bills, despite home advantage, are rated as underdogs at 20/21. The linemakers have found it very hard to separate these two sides but the Ravens being favourites, by however little, is interesting given their status as the road team in this game.

Handicap Betting Odds

Bills: +1.5 @ 20/23

Ravens: -1.5 @ 10/11

The Ravens are 1.5-point favourites in the handicap betting. That means the Ravens will need to win by 2 or more points for a handicap bet on them to be graded a winner.

Over/Under Odds – Total Match Points

Over: 51.5 points @ 20/21

Under: 51.5 points @ 20/23

The over/under point total has been set at 51.5 points. You can back over that number at odds of 20/21 while the under, 51 or fewer points, is 20/23.

Any total north of 50 points is considered high so our oddsmakers are expecting a high-scoring game in what looks to be the best matchup of the divisional round.

Bills vs Ravens Head-To-Head

All-Time Head-To-Head Record

The Ravens lead the all-time series over the Bills with a record of 7-5. Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson are 2-2 against each other since they were installed as starters.

Recent Head-To-Head Games

The most recent matchup between these two teams was in September of this season when the Ravens dominated the Bills 35-10 at home.

The Key Matchups

Quarterback: Josh Allen vs Lamar Jackson

The two best quarterbacks this season will go head-to-head on Sunday night in this highly anticipated AFC Divisional round game.

Bills QB Josh Allen was expected to win league MVP honours until Lamar Jackson was announced as the quarterback for the AP All-pro First Team. Allen has been considered one of the elite QBs in the league for about the last half decade and he comes into this game off of the best season of his career. The 28-year-old has everything you could want in a quarterback; massive arm, big, strong, fast, and can create plays off-script.

Ravens QB Jackson has also been among the NFL’s elite at the position for 5+ years. Jackson has always been renowned for his ability to run with the ball but in recent years has also developed immensely as a passer. We saw that this season as he threw for over 4,000 yards, 41 TDs, alongside just 4 INTs.

If both quarterbacks play to their potential on Sunday then we will be in for an all-time NFL playoff classic.

I think it’s impossible to say either team has the advantage at QB given how well both of these guys are playing.

Head Coach: Sean McDermott vs John Harbaugh

Both teams can count on savvy and experienced operators at Head Coach.

Bills Head Coach Sean McDermott has been in charge of the franchise since 2017 and in that time has led his team to the playoffs in 7 of 8 seasons including 6 straight 10+ win seasons. In the playoffs, McDermott has had mixed fortunes with a 6-6 record.

On the other sideline will be Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh. In 17 years at the helm, Harbaugh has coached his side to playoff appearances 12 times. Baltimore are 13-10 in the postseason under Harbaugh, a record that includes a Super Bowl win in 2013.

I would give the Ravens the slight advantage at Head Coach here but there’s really very little between these two.

Offence

These are two of the best offences in the league and all of the key metrics that measure offensive success and efficiency would bear that out.

Buffalo have a balanced attack as they mix in plenty of James Cook runs alongside Josh Allen passes. They are without doubt at their most dangerous when the ball is in Allen’s hands and typically score touchdowns once they get into the red zone as evidenced by their 68% touchdown percentage in that area of the field.

Baltimore loves to run the ball and who can blame them with the most lethal running duo in the league made up of two future hall of famers in QB Lamar Jackson and RB Derrick Henry. Last week against the Steelers they rushed for 299 yards with 186 of those yards coming from Henry and 81 yards for Lamar.

With cold weather in the forecast, I’m going to give the slight edge here to Baltimore as it gets harder to throw the ball in frigid conditions which will work in favour of this heavy running attack that the Ravens have.

Defence

These defences look pretty similar on paper at first glance but upon closer inspection, one team should have the upper hand on Sunday.

Buffalo will be content with their defensive performance last week as they held the #7 seed Broncos to just 7 points. That was against a rookie QB however in Bo Nix who was making his playoff debut. In the regular season, this Buffalo defence struggled mightily against playoff opponents with an average of 33 points per game allowed in those contests.

The Ravens' defence on the other hand transformed into one of the best in the league from week 11. Baltimore allowed a league-low 16.3 points per game and 267 yards per game from week 11 to the end of the regular season. After holding the Steelers to just 14 points in the Wild Card Round the Ravens look like they can pose problems for the Bills offence here.

The Ravens have the advantage on the defensive side of the ball in this game.

Bills vs Ravens Weather Forecast

The most up-to-date forecast suggests this game is set to be played in frigid conditions with temperatures on Sunday ranging between -8 and -14 degrees Celsius. There is no snow or rain in the forecast as of right now but that could change as snow is predicted every day in Buffalo between now and next Thursday except for Sunday.

Bills vs Ravens Tips

Handicap Betting: Ravens -1.5 @ 10/11

With their dominant run game and superior defence, the Ravens are well-equipped to control the pace of this matchup. The cold conditions favour Baltimore's ground-and-pound strategy, making them likely to cover the slim 1.5-point handicap.

Total Points: Under 51.5 @ 20/23

The combination of frigid weather and Baltimore's run-heavy offence should keep the clock moving and limit scoring opportunities. Both defences are solid, which could lead to a tighter, lower-scoring game.

Derrick Henry To Score 2+ TDs @ 2/1

Henry has been in incredible form, and his bruising style is perfect for cold-weather football.

Henry is Baltimore's go-to weapon in the red zone, and with his physical style, he’s well-positioned to score multiple touchdowns in this matchup.

Bills vs Ravens Prediction & Best Bet

Prediction: Ravens 27-24 Bills

This AFC Divisional clash is set to be a nail-biter, featuring two of the NFL’s top teams. The Ravens' elite running game, powered by Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson, gives them a slight edge, especially in the frigid conditions expected in Buffalo. While Josh Allen and the Bills have home-field advantage and an explosive offence, Baltimore's superior defence can tip the scales in their favour.

Best Bet: Under 51.5 Total Points @ 20/23

The Ravens have been on a strong run, winning their last 5 games, including an impressive wildcard win against the Steelers. Their potent rushing game, combined with a stifling defence, gives them a slight edge, even on the road. With the handicap set at just 1.5, back Baltimore to cover the spread in a tight, physical matchup.
