Roderic O’Gorman Odds-On To Be Next Green Party Leader
Roderic O’Gorman is now the 1/5 favourite with BoyleSports to be elected leader of the Green Party after nominations for the contest opened this morning.
The Dublin West TD confirmed on Wednesday he is running to succeed Eamon Ryan, who became the second coalition party leader to resign this year when he announced he was standing down this week.
Hackett Keen To Be Greens Leader
Mayo native Pippa Hackett has also thrown her hat in the ring, saying she wants to rebuild trust in the party in rural Ireland.
The Offaly-based Senator is the current underdog at 3/1, but has received the backing of party colleagues Pauline O’Reilly, Ossian Smyth and Brian Leddin, who are all advocating for a leader based outside the capital.
Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said:
“The growing clamour for a leader based outside of Dublin makes this a fascinating contest, but Roderic O’Gorman is still the frontrunner if the betting so far is anything to go by.”
