Ange Postecoglou Becomes Tottenham's New Manager
Tottenham have appointed Ange Postecoglou as their latest manager following Celtic's domestic treble and two seasons at the club where he guided Celtic to five trophies. Ange had been in charge of the club since the 10th of June 2021 after successful spells in Japan and Australia. With that being said, Celtic will want to appoint a manager that will help them continue their Scottish Dominance while making a further push for European progression.Below you can find the top five contenders in the next Celtic Manager odds.Next Celtic Manager Odds
Enzo Maresca 6/4
The leading contender for the Celtic job is Italian Enzo Maresca who started his coaching career back in June 2017 with Ascoli Picchio F.C. 1898. Maresca did not have the required coaching badges so he was officially appointed as assistant to new head coach Fulvio Fiorin. He continued his coaching progression by spending time as an assistant coach at Sevilla 2017-18 then West Ham 2018-19 before he was hired by Manchester City as manager of their Elite Development Squad team where he would guide them to a Premier League 2 title. On the 27th of May 2021, he was hired as head coach of Parma who were in Serie B for the 2021-22 season. It did not quite work out though after just four wins, 5 draws and 5 defeats for a win rate of 28.57% in his first fourteen games in charge.Maresca was then sacked despite having the likes of Buffon in his team. Following his sacking he said his one regret was not having “the patience and strength to believe in something and over time”.In June 2022 he returned to Manchester City as Pep Guardiola’s assistant manager but is now the leading candidate for another job this time at Celtic after being heavily linked to the job back in 2021 before Ange Postecoglou was appointed.Brendan Rodgers 5/2
You know what they say, history is often destined to repeat itself, and following his sacking from Leicester back in April, Rodgers is now one of the leading fancies for the Celtic job. This is of course a role which he held from May 2016-February 2019 before he became Leicester City Manager.During his four-year term away from Celtic he guided Leicester to two 5th place finishes, 1 FA Cup (the first in the club's history), 1 Community Shield and 1 European Semi-Final.Rodgers favours his side playing a flowing, attacking possession-based game which would fit the philosophy at Celtic like a glove, after all it has before! However, whether Celtic fans want a Rodgers return remains to be seen with many fans online still claiming he was a traitor to leave the club back in 2019.That being said, his record at the club speaks for itself with a 69.8%-win rate (albeit roughly 4% less than Ange). Rodgers won five trophies during his time at the helm and would be a safe choice for the Park Head hot-seat again.Kjetil Knutsen 7/1
Knutsen is an experienced coach who has spent time in several different roles in the last 28 years. Knutsen started his managerial career back in 1995 with fifth-tier club TIL Hovding initially as a junior coach, then as head coach.Knutsen took the team up two divisions in nine years before leaving the club for Brann as Head of First Team Development. He was Head Coach at Fyllingsdalen in 2012 and then at Åsane in 2014.Following his sacking at Åsane, he joined Bodø/Glimt as assistant coach before coming head coach in 2018. They finished 2019 coming second in the Eliteserien and Knutsen received the Elaterin Coach of the Year award for this accomplishment. He went one better in 2020 leading the club to their first-ever Norwegian national league title, in a record-breaking season where his team only lost one match. They retained the trophy again in 2021 and the same year led the club to their first group stage in Europe. In that European campaign his outfit became the first team in history to score six times against a José Mourinho side during a 6–1 victory against Roma at Aspmyra. His teams adopt a 4-3-3 attacking style and is reportedly under consideration for the role at Celtic.David Moyes 15/2
It’s strange how quickly the tide can turn in football. A few weeks ago West Ham found themselves in an unlikely relegation battle following their seventh-placed finish last season. But a few weeks later they climbed up to fourteenth in the Premier League and in a Europa Conference League Final, their first European Final since 1965.David Moyes played for Celtic between 1980-83 and is the current third favourite for the manager's role at Celtic. However, it remains to be seen what sort of move Celtic would be for Moyes especially if he wins the Conference League with West Ham while his pragmatic style of football may not be too enamoured at the Scottish Giants.Graham Potter 8/1
Potter was sacked as Chelsea manager back in April following a 2-0 defeat to Aston Vila, after his side struggled for goals (like it was at Brighton) with a record of 12 wins, 8 draws and 11 defeats from his 31 matches for a win ratio of only 38.7%. That win rate was the worst at the club since Guus Hiddink’s record of 35%.Before the Chelsea job Potter had virtually started at the bottom of the management ladder working with Leeds Metropolitan University and then Leeds Carnage in the North West Counties at step nine of the football pyramid before getting his break at Östersund. At Östersund he helped earn the club European Football for the first time before moving onto Swansea and then Brighton. It would be hard to argue that Potter did not put the hard graft in before earning the Chelsea role seven months ago.Despite his recent sacking, Potter is a pragmatic coach who is extremely innovative with his tactics and coaching methods. His favoured formation is a back three – usually in a 3-4-3 with two number 10s behind one striker he also often deploys a 3-4-1-2 formation with one 10 behind two centre-forwards.The ex-Chelsea manager is certainly a coach with an excellent pedigree and track record (at least before Chelsea) but remains an outside bet to land the job at Celtic Park, especially considering how his sides struggle for goals so much.Click Below For All Our Next Celtic Manager Odds*Prices subject to fluctuation
