Arsenal’s tough run of fixtures continues with a trip to Newcastle, where they have struggled over the past couple of seasons.

The Gunners have lost on three straight visits to St James’ Park, including last term’s EFL Cup semi-final second leg, failing to score on each occasion.

Both teams head into this encounter looking to find a little extra spark after recent displays, so 11/5 for the Magpies to prevail again is tempting enough to be our initial Newcastle vs Arsenal prediction.

Newcastle are priced at 12/5 to earn their second league victory of the season which could see them rise into the top half of the table. Arsenal are priced as 21/20 favourites which would ensure they don' fall further behind Liverpool in the league table while the draw can be backed at 23/10

Head-to-Head Record

Newcastle vs Arsenal Head-To-Head Record

United’s overall record against Arsenal is nothing to write home about due to picking up only one point from their last dozen league matches at Emirates Stadium.

However, Newcastle did taste success there in January’s opening EFL Cup meeting, and the aforementioned home form against the Gunners is a definite plus point.

Anthony Gordon has done well in this fixture, with three goals in the last six games, so he is one to consider for first scorer wagers.

Eddie Howe will have been hoping to kick on from last season, which saw the Magpies end a long wait for silverware and finish fifth in the table, but the Alexander Isak saga proved a big setback.

There have been brave efforts in defeat against Liverpool and Barcelona, but the sole success so far was a 1-0 defeat of Wolves, and last Sunday’s trip to Bournemouth ended with a third straight goalless stalemate on the road.

Injuries to new recruits Jacob Ramsey and Yoane Wissa haven’t helped, and Howe said, "It’s three 0-0s away from home for us, which is really uncommon with our attacking style.

"I think just naturally we’re going to be a different team attacking-wise this year without Alex. I’m hopeful we’re evolving to a different team, hopefully a better team, but it may take a bit of time."

With just one first-half goal scored in five league outings, we probably shouldn’t expect too much early on here, but United are still pretty strong at the back.

Arsenal Form Guide

Arsenal Form Guide

This will be a fourth straight league match against one of last season’s top seven for the Gunners, and results have been mixed in the previous games.

Arsenal were beaten 1-0 by Liverpool at Anfield before brushing aside Nottingham Forest 3-0 on home turf and then drawing 1-1 with Manchester City at Emirates Stadium.

The big concern with their performances against Liverpool and City has been the lack of ambition shown by Arteta, both in terms of team selection and tactics.

New striker Viktor Gyokeres really struggled to make an impact in both matches, but Arteta has few other options up front, with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus out.

Chief playmaker Martin Odegaard has also had fitness issues, and Bukayo Saka is only just back from injury, so we’re happy to take the visitors on with a BOYLE Sports price boost of 15/4 for Newcastle to prevail 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1.
