Premier League pundit and TalkSPORT radio host Natalie Sawyer says Tottenham fans should be concerned by comments from manager Antonio Conte regarding the club’s activity during the January transfer window.

The Italian claimed this week that that the squad has actually been “weakened” and admitted that he now realises the vision of the club is to favour developing young players over those “who are ready.” In an apparent swipe at the board, he also said if you want to be competitive quickly, “you need players with a lot of experience.”

Sawyer said she believes the comments are a sign that Conte is already unhappy having only taken the job in November when he replaced Nuno Espiritio Santo in the Tottenham dugout. Check out the video below!

“When a new manager comes in they want to be given money to spend,” Sawyer told BoyleSports.

“He wants to make his imprint on a team that, let’s face it, has been faltering for quite a while. They went for the tried and tested Jose Mourinho, who everybody expected would come in and win them a trophy, but that backfired on them.

“So Antonio Conte clearly wants some sort of backing, but equally he’ll have had conversations with Daniel Levy and whether he’s been promised money or not, there will have been some emphasis on bringing young players through, it can’t all be about spend, spend spend.

“It is worrying though when you’re already hearing a manager talking about the size of the task and it already appears he’s not quite happy at Spurs. That must be worrying for a Spurs fan listening in and it doesn’t help that they’re going to Manchester in bad form.”

Conte has this week shortened into 10/1 from 25/1 to be the next Premier League manager to leave their post, although Brendan Rodgers is the favourite at 11/8 ahead of Leicester’s trip to face Wolves on Sunday.
