While McLaren duo Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris have been focusing on their internal squabble, Max Verstappen has been making hay and that trend is tipped to continue in our Mexican Grand Prix predictions.

With a run of three wins in four races, the Red Bull ace has reduced his deficit in the drivers’ standings to lie 40 points behind Piastri and 26 adrift of Norris.

From declaring his title chances over before the summer break, the flying Dutchman is now 13/8 favourite with BOYLE Sports to secure a fifth straight championship success.

It is hard to find a reason why Verstappen won’t maintain his momentum at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez and he is rated a worthy market leader at 5/4 in the Mexican Grand Prix odds.

Verstappen Chasing

Verstappen Chasing ‘Perfect’ Run-In

Following victories in Italy and Azerbaijan, Verstappen chased home George Russell in Singapore and then dominated the United States Grand Prix from start to finish.

Having already won Saturday’s sprint from the front, he completed a perfect weekend at the Circuit of the Americas by converting pole position on race day into a lights-to-flag victory by almost eight seconds.

“We found a good way with the car, simple as that,” said Verstappen regarding the recent progress. “But we need to be perfect until the end to have a chance.”

The 28-year-old has had the luxury of cruising through some of his title triumphs but other prolonged duels with Lewis Hamilton have left him battle-hardened and brimming with self-confidence.

McLaren Urges Cool Heads

McLaren Chief Calls For Calm

McLaren team principal Andrea Stella has urged Piastri and Norris to remain calm after they collided during the Austin sprint and then lost more ground to Verstappen on Sunday.

“What we are facing in this moment, which is a tight competition to win races, a tight competition in the quest for the drivers’ championship, is what Formula One is about,” said Stella.

“If anything, it was anomalous when we were doing it easily. That’s not what Formula One is about. It’s a process of getting used to this kind of pressure, which we want to live with maximum intensity and minimum stress.

“We don’t want to lose the joy of doing what we do. We just want to make sure we put ourselves in the state in which we perform at our best, which also includes keeping having fun and recognising that ultimately, it’s quite a big privilege to be in this situation.”

Norris did show flashes of genuine speed in the USA and is 9/4 to prevail in Mexico City but Piastri was well off the pace when finishing fifth last weekend and is 10/3 to get back on track.

However, if McLaren are to recapture their best form, it will not be through upgrades to their car, as while Red Bull continue to tweak their package, the papaya outfit do not have any planned updates.

For those eyeing bigger odds with their Mexican Grand Prix betting tips , Mercedes' main man Russell is 14/1 to claim a third win of the season, Charles Leclerc is 18/1 to build on his podium finish in Austin and team-mate Hamilton is 25/1 to secure a first success for Ferrari.
