Men’s Royal Rumble Favourites

John Cena - 5/6

The favourite to win the 2025 Royal Rumble is John Cena with odds of 8/15 suggesting a 54.5% chance of success that he starts his Retirement Tour in the best way possible.

John Cena is widely considered not only one of the greatest WWE Superstars of all time but as the greatest full stop, since debuting in 2002 against Kurt Angle, he quickly took the ball from giants like Steve Austin and The Rock and carried the company and a new generation of stars on his back for the best part of two decades.

Since that debut in 2002 he has achieved an unprecedented level of success including 13 WWE Championship wins, 3 World Heavyweight Title wins, United States Championship 3 times, a 4-time Tag Team Champion, Money in the Bank winner in 2012 and the was a Royal Rumble winner in both 2008 and 2013.

While John Cena in more recent years has assumed a more “part-time” status focusing on outside pursuits like traditional acting, he has still competed in the company every year since 2022 and remains among the company's biggest “merch” sellers.

Following the announcement at Money in the Bank last year, that he was set to retire indefinitely from competing after 2005 it was subsequently also confirmed that he would take on a full-time status with the company for “One Last Dance” with the WWE.

He recently declared for the 2025 Royal Rumble and thus is a very natural favourite for the event in doing so he could join all-time leader in the event Stone Cold Steve Austin on 3 wins.

CM Punk – 13/8

The second favourite for the 2025 Royal Rumble is CM Punk with odds of 10/3 suggesting he has a 38.1% chance of winning the event.

In November 2023 CM Punk made his return to WWE, the company where he was infamously out of after an event where he legitimately told Vince McMahon and Triple H “he was going home”.

This decision was born out of frustration with the company for some time due to intensive scheduling, lack of creative control and respect (in Punk’s opinion anyway) and general frustrations with the management.

In the subsequent years, Punk tried his hand at everything from UFC to working with other wrestling promotions like AEW. For years he said he would never go back to WWE, but following his return at Survivor Series in November 2023 it was a lesson to followers. Never say never in wrestling.

Despite returning in November, Punks did not wrestle his first televised WWE match since his return until at the 2024 Royal Rumble where he was fancied as one of the favourites to win the event. He eventually entered at number #27 before eventually finishing as he was the runner-up after being eliminated by Cody Rhodes during the match he tore his right tricep ruling him out of WrestleMania 40.

That injury was turned into a feud where he fought Drew Mclntyre who relentlessly mocked him while he was injured, they played out a trilogy of matches with Punk winning the feud finally in a Hell in a Cell match at Bad Blood after 10 months. After a short hiatus, he joined as the fifth member of the Roman Reigns team at War Games where they defeated The Bloodline.

CM Punk was a bridesmaid last year, but as it turns out his stock has only risen further, and I think at odds of 10/3 he is the value play in the Royal Rumble Ring.

Roman Reigns  - 3/1

The third favourite for the 2025 Royal Rumble is Roman Reigns with odds of 3/1 suggesting a 25% chance of him winning his second Royal Rumble event.

“The Tribal Chief” has overcome rejection from the WWE fanbase to rise to the top of the industry, dominating and becoming the best heel of his generation largely due to his work as the central figure in the famous “Bloodline” storyline which has spanned over 4 years.

While WrestleMania 40 last year marked the end of an over 3-year reign from when he first won the title in August 2020, holding onto it until April 2024. He remains one of the biggest Superstars in the company.

He’s always been booked strongly in Royal Rumble events with the highlight being his victory in 2015, but he has also been runner-up more times than anyone else coming  2014, 2017, 2018 and 2020. He has the record for second most eliminations in a Royal Rumble event with 12 in 2014 and his record across 6 events of 32 eliminations is only equalled by Brock Lesnar.

He’s rightly held in the highest of esteems in the company, but I don’t think he needs to win this Royal Rumble event to set up his next WrestleMania moment!

Seth Rollins – 4/1

The fourth favourite for the Royal Rumble next Saturday is Seth Rollins at  4/1 these odds suggest he has a 20% chance of winning the event.

“The Architect” is a previous winner of the event coming back in 2019 where eventually eliminated Braun Strowman to land his chance to Main Event WrestleMania 35. R ollins chose to challenge Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship and defeat him in just 2 minutes and 30 seconds to win the title.

He was ruled out of last year's event through an MCL injury though he was still World Heavyweight Champion at the time. He returned to the ring for WrestleMania and on Night 1, he teamed up with Rhodes against Roman Reigns and The Rock in the Main Event though they were defeated.

He played a major role in Night 2 too though he lost his Championship after a 316-day reign ended to Drew Mclntyre he finished the night helping Cody Rhodes dethrone Roman Reigns. In 2024 after an injury hiatus, he feuded with the likes of Mclntyre, Punk and Bronson Reed.

He’s certain to play a prominent role at WrestleMania but I can’t see him winning this Royal Rumble event.

The Rock -11/1

The fifth favourite for the Royal Rumble is The Rock of 11/1 these odds suggest he has an 8.3% chance of winning the event.

“The Great One” made a shocking return to the WWE on New Year's Day, where he seemingly alluded to a desire for a match with his cousin Roman Reigns. The Rock has inarguably become the most well-known “wrestler” in modern-day history, creating a legacy so strong that his exploits in Hollywood as “Dwayne Johnson” shockingly supersede his actual achievements in WWE.

The Rock played a huge role at WrestleMania 40 first Main Eventing Night 1 teaming with his cousin Roman Reigns to defeat Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins which meant the Night 2 Main Event would be under “Bloodline Rules”. On the second night, he accompanied Roman Reigns into his Main Event and again featured prominently having WrestleMania moments with old foes likes of John Cena and The Undertaker

The Rock then away for a few months, before returning at the end of the “Bad Blood” event after Rhodes and Reigns defeated The Bloodline he silently counted to three and made a throat-slashing gesture to Reigns, Rhodes, and Uso before leaving.

The Rock vs Roman Reigns has been a dream match for fans for years and something WWE will need to pull the trigger on sooner rather than later if it’s ever to occur with The Rock now 52!

The Rock despite his wrestling legacy only won the Royal Rumble once coming in the year 2000. Though I think the match with Reigns is highly likely at some point I don’t see there being the value or need in him winning another Royal Rumble.
