Horse Jumping at Punchestown

Speaking exclusively to BoyleSports, trainer Martin Brassil has given us his Punchestown Festival preview.

The trainer of Fastorslow has said that his horse is ready to take on Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Galopin Des Champs if they both run in the Punchestown Gold Cup.

The Grand National winning trainer is also expecting the British, with the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson-owned Caldwell Potter, Jonbon, Shiskin and Bravesmansgame to make an impact at Punchestown.

Punchestown At The Top In Terms of Irish Festivals

Punchestown is top of my list. It is down to the history of it. I am a bit of a traditionalist.

Through the years of people trying to change things round, Punchestown has held onto the things like the bank races. Everyone is catered for. Amateur and professional riders, there are races there to suit all types of horses.

English To Make An Impact At Punchestown

I think the English could well make an impact at Punchestown this year. Jonbon is a top horse.

I am not surprised either that they are coming. The prize money is much better.

With the way things are, Cheltenham do need to do something about their prize money. It doesn’t match the Dublin Racing Festival or some of the good races in Punchestown. I know you have the Gold Cup but some of the other races they could do with stepping up.

Fastorslow’s Chances at Punchestown Gold Cup

He’s in the race and up against Galopin des Champs if he runs. We are looking forward to the race and lets hope he can do himself justice.

He seems to run well around there. I’d be hopeful he will be very competitive again regardless of who is in the race.

*Fastorslow is 5/2 second favourite for the Punchestown Gold Cup per the latest horse racing odds at BoyleSports.

Panda Boy ‘Fine’ After Grand National Run

He is fine. He took the race reasonably well. He just didn’t get the best start. He likes to have plenty of light over the first few fences but he didn’t get that.

He was chasing the tail the whole time and a couple of mishaps caused him to lose a bit of ground when he should have been making it up. Overall he jumped around fine and he will live to fight another day.

What’s Next for Panda Boy?

We will see how he is. There’s a possibility he will have a run on the last day of the Punchestown Festival in the Pat Taaffe Memorial.

Brassil Horses To Keep An Eye Out For

I have a couple of nice bumper horses. GoldintheMountains won on St Stephen’s Day at Leopardstown. And then there is Don’tstopthemusic who was second in a Galway bumper in the summer and hopefully the ground will be coming right for him soon.
