We have a Man United v Man City prediction for you plus all the betting odds as we preview this Sunday’s Manchester Derby.
The Red Devils have ridden their luck so far this season with more questionable performances than not. Despite that, they have four wins in their last five games in all competitions.
The Citizens have started the season slowly (as they often do) and while they’re currently second in the league they’ve lost two of their last four games, with both of those losses coming in the Premier League.
Can Man United turn their season around by beating their ‘noisy neighbours’? Or will Man City pile further pressure on Erik ten Hag with a win at Old Trafford? Find out everything you need to know ahead of the game below.

In the league, the Red Devils commenced their season with a narrow 1-0 win against Wolves, but that was followed by three defeats and just one win in their preceding four games (albeit those defeats came against Tottenham, Arsenal and Brighton).
That run was then compounded with two defeats from their opening two Champions League games. This meant that ten Hag was under huge pressure, the most he’s experienced since taking over the job.
You could argue that performances haven’t exactly improved since then but results certainly have. With that said, it’s hard to imagine these results are sustainable considering it has taken a late late show to save their skins in recent games.
That includes a McTominay injury-time brace against Brentford, a late Dalot strike against Sheffield United and a late Onana penalty save against Copenhagen in the Champions League. The club have still won four of their last five league games even if playing poorly.
That lack of self-belief and “Plan B” when playing poorly was a criticism labelled on ten Hag during his first season. Whether recent weeks are a sign of that steel or papering over cracks is another argument.
Unfortunately for United, Man City are the perfect side to take advantage of said cracks at the weekend unless they significantly improve their level of performance.

To the club’s credit, they’ve become a force not just in the domestic game but also in Europe which they proved with last year’s Champions League title. That’s something which would’ve been quite unimaginable before their takeover all those years ago now.
Man City started their season where they let off last year with six league victories in their six games. Over that run, they scored sixteen goals while conceding just three. It looked like their dominance was poised to continue again this season.
However, that line of form was followed by a 2-1 defeat against Wolves and a 1-0 defeat against Arsenal. Is that a sign that the club are not as bulletproof as some might make you believe in the Premier League? That’s before mentioning their EFL Exit against Newcastle and Community Shield defeat, again against Arsenal.
The club are still a serious force of course, winning three from three in the Champions League this season (all by a 3-1 scoreline) and most recently in the league beating Brighton 2-1. The club rightly remain heavy favourites for this huge Derby Day.

Man United have been poor this season, but it should not be discounted that there seems to be a grit and determination about the club at the moment. They have found a way to get a result even when playing poorly, reminiscent of the days under Sir Alex Ferguson.
Man City have two defeats in their last three league games which suggests they are there for the taking and not quite at the levels of last season (yet anyway). However, their performance in the Champions League in particular shows they remain a force to be reckoned with.
This is a huge game for both clubs and a victory for the red half of Manchester would put them only three points adrift of their rivals ten games into the season.
While I suspect it could be closer than some are predicting, Man City are still on another level to Man United right now and should take home all three points on Sunday as a result.

Man United’s Form
Despite coming off a successful season last year with a trophy and a return to the Champions League, Man United Manager Erik ten Hag remains under a constant swarm of pressure. Such is the scrutiny of modern football along with the added pressure of the Man United job being arguably the biggest in English and world football.

City ended last season in exceptional form. They of course won a historic treble, becoming the second-ever club to do it in England (after neighbours Man United). To the club’s credit, they’ve become a force not just in the domestic game but also in Europe which they proved with last year’s Champions League title.
