Man United v Everton Preview

Man United’s Form

The Amorim era chapter in the history of Man United Football Club is here though they had to settle for a draw against Ipswich last weekend. Their midweek 3-2 comeback victory over Bodø/Glimt gave the manager his first win at the helm. Though the tactical adjustments will take time the 3-4-3/3-4-2-1 formation is certainly something the Old Trafford faithful haven’t seen before.

In the Premier League, they’ve been the less than consistent side this season and with 16 points from 12 games it means they’re simultaneously 6 points off the Champions League but only 7 above the relegation zone. The biggest issue is their attacking output with only 13 goals from an XG of 20.31.  If they can sort that they will climb the table considerably.

Win and United will climb into the top half of the table at a minimum.

Everton’s Form

Everton have had a myriad of financial issues these past 12 months which has made it very difficult for them to perform. Last season though Dyche was able to guide them to 15th despite a points deduction. They were expected to struggle this season again but as of now Dyche has worked his magic and they’re again 15th albeit only 2 clear of the relegation zone.

Their statistical performance has them even better off points-wise with 12.89 though that would ironically put them lower in 16th position. They’ve only had one league defeat in their last 5 games too which shows they’re at a minimum hard to beat.

There is very little to lose from them in this match.

Key Players To Watch

Amad Diallo - Man United

It’s been a strange season for Amad, starting it with ten Hag and in the starting side he performed relatively well but found himself losing his place in the team before returning again under Ruud and performing. He occupied the RWB role against Ipswich and was rested from the midweek, he is likely to return to his favoured AM on Sunday.

This season he has 3 goals and 3 assists in 910 minutes for the club and I expect him to play a prominent role under Amorim. He can be gotten at 7/1 to score first and 5/2 to score at any time.

Dwight McNeil - Everton

The former Carrington trainee is one of few attacking bright sparks in this Everton side playing LM/AM he has 4 goals and 3 assists across 13 in all competitions o far in 24/25 and will be their primary threat.

He can be gotten at 14/1 to score first and 5/1 to score at any time.

Man United v Everton Prediction & Best Bet

Prediction: Man United 2-0 Everton

Man United scored a few goals midweek but looked vulnerable defensively, fortunately, this Everton side are likely to sit back and soak up the pressure on Sunday.

Dyche deserves far more credit than he gets as a manager and everyone knows he will set themselves up defensively at the weekend.

I think United do enough but I can’t see there being many goals.

Best Bet: Man United Win + Under 2.5 Goals @ 3/1
