We have a Luton Town v West Ham prediction plus odds for you as we preview another edition of Premier League Friday Night Football.
When? 8.00 pm, Friday 1st September
What Channel? Sky Sports Premier League, Sky Sports Main Event
West Ham – 11/4
Draw – 11/4
Luton are 10/3 to land their first Premier League victory of the season, second-place West Ham can be gotten at 8/11 while the draw is currently priced up at 11/4.
Luton even overcame defeat in the Play-Off Semi-Final first-leg 1-2 they had a 2-0 second-leg victory to get into the final. In the Play-Off final they drew 1-1 against Coventry AET before winning 6-5 on penalties and confirming their Premier League status.
Luton had an interesting off-season in how they’re approaching their promotion to the Premier League. While plenty of sides when promoted look to overhaul their squad completely (like Nottingham Forest last season) the club retained a large bulk of their promotion squad.
Although they did make some shrewd additions with the likes of Ogbene, Chong, Barkley and Krul coming in. Plenty are expecting this Luton side to finish bottom of the table but I’m not so sure and I think they could shock a few with their performances this year.
The club had a solid pre-season record coming into the season with three wins, two draws and one defeat. However, in their opening game of the season they faced buoyant Brighton who hammered them 4-1. In that game Brighton had 71% of possession and created an XG of 4.0 to Luton Town's 1.5.
In their second game, it didn’t get any easier for Luton with a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea in Stamford Bridge. It’ll be interesting to see how the Hatters approach their EFL Cup game on Tuesday before facing another tough task in West Ham for Friday Night Football.
During the off-season, they lost their talismanic Captain Declan Rice who signed with Arsenal for a not too shabby £105 million. Despite the club having a considerable amount of change in their pocket they struggled with recruitment (at least initially) with the club even advertising for positions on transfer websites.
Their luck turned in August though with the additions of Edison Alvarez, James Ward-Prowse, Konstantinos Mavropanos and most recently Mohammed Kudus adding considerable strength to the squad.
Pre-season results were interesting for the club as they won their first three matches including a 2-3 victory over Tottenham. However, what followed was a 2-2 draw against National League side Dagenham & Redbridge F.C. and then two defeats conceding seven goals and only scoring once.
As a result of that rocky preseason nobody was quite sure what to expect from the Hammers coming into the start of this season, but what a start it has been!
West Ham have won seven points from their opening three games. Following a disappointing 1-1 draw with Bournemouth on the opening weekend of the season that was followed by a 3-1 win over Chelsea and a 1-3 win over Brighton to stamp their authority early in the season.

Luton Town 1-1 West Ham | 23 July, 2022, Club Friendly
West Ham are in flying form under David Moyes putting the talk of his sacking on the backburner (at least for now).
Luton on the other hand have had a difficult start to their season losing two from two matches. There's something about this one that tells me Luton can get at least a point.

West Ham’s Form
There's a lot going on behind the scenes at West Ham. Last season, despite their Europa Conference Final victory over Florentina, the club struggled in the league falling from seventh in the previous season to fourteenth place on the table. It was only in the final few weeks of last season that they secured Premier League survival.During the off-season, they lost their talismanic Captain Declan Rice who signed with Arsenal for a not too shabby £105 million. Despite the club having a considerable amount of change in their pocket they struggled with recruitment (at least initially) with the club even advertising for positions on transfer websites.
