Shane Lowry has been backed to add to his major tally as the leading tours grapple with the conundrum of when the four majors will take place this year.

The first two majors of the year have already been postponed with the Masters and USPGA now requiring rescheduling later in the year.

Offaly man Shane Lowry broke his major duck last year when lifting the Claret Jug at Royal Portrush and he is a 40/1 shot to successfully defend his Open Champion crown at the tournament which remains pencilled in for mid-July at Royal St. George's in Kent.

He is 50/1 to wear the green jacket at the Masters which has been earmarked for the Autumn while a victory in the US Open at Winged Foot is the same price as it moves closer to be becoming the third major to require a shift in the calendar.

Lowry has seen support at 12/1 to win any of the four majors, which are threatening to push the Ryder Cup back a year as they are expected to be fixed into a busy schedule in the second half of the season.

Shane Lowry had been showing glimpses of the form that saw him hit a career high last year.""

We are seeing plenty of local support for him to step into the major winners' enclosure yet again. We've made that a 12/1 shot from 20/1, with the Open Championship his best chance at 40/1 as a defence at Royal St George's remains on schedule for now.
