Preview

Bohemians are still yet to draw a Premier Division game this season though in hindsight they would’ve taken one last weekend following their 1-0 defeat to Drogheda. The overall performance was decent though with them having more possession, corners and a higher passing accuracy than their opponents. It’s still unclear where they stand in the long-term trajectory this season but if Lys Mousset can garner a head of steam following his winning goal a couple of weeks ago against Sligo Rovers, a European spot is well within reach.

Derry City failed the Shamrock Rovers test last weekend despite taking the lead in the 65th through minute through Danny Mullen they succumbed to a defeat following goals from Michael Noonan 70th minute and Aaron McEneff in the 89th minute. There is a lot of experience in this City side though and they should return to a European spot this season though this game could decide a lot of narratives.

Prediction: Bohemians 1-1 Derry City

Friday Night will be a classic gauge of Youth vs Experience and with Bohemians playing at home I can see them getting something from the game, maybe even their first draw.

Best Bet: Bohemians Double Chance – 4/9

Cork City vs Shelbourne–  Friday 7.45 pm,  LOI TV

Odds

Cork City – 14/5

Shelbourne – 10/11

Draw – 14/5

Preview

Cork City fell to their nineth league defeat of the season last weekend when they lost 2-1 against Galway United which could prove a detrimental result in terms of their survival prospects. Though their overall performance in Gerard Nash’s first game in charge of the club they need to pick up points fast with Sligo Rovers now level on points with them and Waterford immediately above them ten clear.

Though Shelbourne have struggled for goals this season, their 3-2 win over Sligo Rovers last weekend suggests they may be starting to find their feet in that department following a hat-trick of goals from John Martin.  They need another win though to ensure they don’t get cut adrift from the sides above them and to increase the gap between themselves and those who could potentially be brought into a relegation battle.

Prediction: Cork City 1-2 Shelbourne

Cork City haven’t kept a clean sheet in seventeen matches, and I expect that to continue on Friday Night though I don’t expect the floodgates to open I expect Shelbourne will do enough.

Best Bet: Shelbourne Win + Under 3.5 Total Goals – 6/4

Waterford vs Drogheda – Friday 7.45 pm,  LOI TV

Odds

Waterford – 6/4

Drogheda – 8/5

Draw – 11/5

Preview

Waterford picked up a more than respectable 2-2 draw at the RSC against St Patrick’s Athletic last weekend and had it not been for the excellence of Mason Melia on the opposing side they could’ve earned three points. The next few results for this Waterford side could define their season if they can continue to extend the gap between themselves and those above them they can increase their ambitions.

There is a strong sense of resilience in this Drogheda United side under Kevin Doherty where they can regularly bounce back from setbacks and poor performances to keep themselves among those at the top of the table. There is no “luck” about their second position in the league though and their goal difference of +6 is the second best in the division behind only Shamrock Rovers +17.

Prediction: Waterford 2-2 Drogheda

This is a very difficult game to gauge but I can there being some goals.

Best Bet: Over 2.5 Total Goals - EVS

Sligo Rovers vs St Patrick’s Athletic – Friday 7.45 pm,  LOI TV

Odds

Sligo Rovers – 11/4

St Patrick’s Athletic - 4/5

Draw – 13/5

Preview

Sligo Rovers may still sit bottom of the Premier Division but only by a goal difference of one goal,  The issue with this Sligo Rovers side isn’t the lack of quality, it’s that the quality in its depths generally comes from their younger players with both McElroy (19) and Elding (19) their scorers in their latest 3-2 defeat to Shelbourne.

St Patrick’s Athletic do have the blend of both youth and experience in their squad which most sides in the country would envy, but it’s failed to produce the results expected of them this season and with a transfer window imminent many supporters are calling for the heads of their squad. However, the performances of Tottenham-bound Mason Melia means they still stand in good stead if they can go on a run of positive results.

Prediction: Sligo Rovers 0-2 St Patrick’s Athletic

Sligo Rovers are better than people give them credit for but I think Pats based on every conceivable metric should be too good for them.

Best Bet : St Patrick’s Athletic – 4/5

Shamrock Rovers vs Galway United  –  Friday 8 pm, LOI TV

Odds

Shamrock Rovers – 11/20

Galway United – 5/1

Draw – 11/4

Preview

Shamrock Rovers are the form team in the Premier Division and following their comeback win over Derry City last weekend they now lead the league six points clear of closes challengers Drogheda United.. This Rovers side loom well balanced in all departments with 33 goals scored and 16 conceded meaning they’re the leading performers in both this season.

Galway United ground out a 2-1 win over Cork City last weekend which puts them eleven points clear of the relegation places. However, there is still work to be done if they’re to build on that win and not find themselves in the purgatory and their performances still give major cause for concern.

Prediction: Shamrock Rovers 3-0 Galway United

Rovers’ are flying and though their winning streak will ultimately end I don’t think it’ll be this time.

Best Bet : Shamrock Rovers – 23/20
