Limerick have been backed into their shortest price to date to defend their All-Ireland crown after a comprehensive victory over Tipperary in the Munster Final at the Gaelic Grounds.

Any doubts over the All-Ireland credentials of John Kiley’s men were brushed aside as they built on a 2-point half time advantage to run away from their opponents in the second half and record a 2-26 to 2-14 victory.

That makes the Treaty now just Even money from 7/4 before throw-in with BoyleSports to go on and win their second consecutive Liam MacCarthy Cup having ended a 45-year wait for one last season. Tipperary were 2/1 shots before the match and remain the second favourites despite being eased out to 3/1.

Wexford also go straight into the semi-finals after their first Leinster title in 15 years came at the expense of Kilkenny in a tight encounter at Croke Park. The chances of Davy Fitzgerald’s men claiming a first All-Ireland Senior Hurling crown for the county since 1996 are into 8/1 from 14/1, with Kilkenny’s price more than doubled from 5/1 to 11/1.

Tipperary had been backed steadily throughout the campaign but that performance was a real wake up call for anyone who thought Limerick didn’t have what it takes for a successful defence.

They are now just a double-your-money bet to do it again this year and punters seem to think it’s theirs to throw away now.""
