Winless Burnley welcome Everton to Turf Moor on Sunday afternoon with the hosts desperately in need of a win to avoid being cut adrift in the Premier League.
Form
The Clarets lost their fourth league game of the season at home to West Ham last weekend to leave them still chasing a first victory of the season – the only side in all four divisions yet to claim a win - with only four draws to show for their efforts to date.
The Hammers were convincing winners last Saturday with goals from Diafra Sakho, Enner Valencia and Carlton Cole easing their side to the three points after George Boyd’s strike had briefly threatened a revival for the hosts. Sean Dyche’s side have now conceded nine goals in their past three outings after keeping three successive shut-outs prior to that. They’ve also gone five games on the bounce without finding the back of the net and scored just four all season, with no player yet to register more than one goal.
Everton picked up their first win in seven outings last weekend when they comfortably saw off Aston Villa 3-0 at Goodison Park, with Phil Jagielka, Romelu Lukaku and Seamus Coleman getting the goals. It was just a second Premier League win of the season for the Toffees, who have nine points from their eight games and lie in 13th place going into the weekend’s action. Roberto Martinez saw his side earn a decent point in the Europa League against Lille in France on Thursday night to leave them with five points from three group games there.
Only the top three sides in the Premier League have scored more than Everton but only bottom club QPR have conceded more with Steven Naismith leading their goalscoring charts with four.
Team News
Burnley hope to have Dean Marney and Michael Keane available for selection once more with both on track to return following hamstring problems but Steven Reid and Matty Taylor are both likely to miss out. Striker Sam Vokes is also out until next month at least as he continues his recovery from an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury.
Defender Jon Stones is out for the Toffees with an ankle injury he sustained in their loss to Manchester United at the beginning of the month, and joins Kevin Mirallas and Arouna Kone on the sidelines.
Head-to-Head
This will be the first time the clubs have met since Burnley were last in the top flight, with both sides earning home wins without conceding a goal in the 2008/2009 season. Those are the only clashes between the teams in almost 30 years and Everton haven’t actually won at Turf Moor since 1969.
Recommended Bets
It’s no surprise to see Burnley priced as big as 18/5 to pick up three points given their chronic lack of goals this term allied to the fact they’ve now started to ship them at the other end too.
Record-signing Lukaku is also back on track after a sluggish start to the season and the Belgian is worth a wager at 21/20 to score anytime and 7/2 to score first or last.

Everton, on the other hand, have scored in every league game and look to have begun to sort their defence out with successive clean sheets so the away win looks a worthwhile punt at 5/6.""
