Leinster Form

Leinster have had an exceptional 2024-25 United Rugby Championship season, topping the league standings with a total of 76 points to finish 8 clear of closest challengers Bulls following a record of 16 wins and 2 defeats. They were the joint highest scorers with the Bulls (542) and had the best defence conceding only 256 with the next best being Bull's total of 306.  They also won the Irish Shield winning 6/6 of their games.

In their quarter-final they faced Welsh side Scarlets at the Aviva Stadium and though they won 33-21 in the end. Interestingly they had lost 35-22 the previous month but battered them last November 54-5.

Last weekend Leinster booked their place in the United Rugby Championship final following a 37-19 victory over Glasgow Warriors at the Aviva Stadium. Dan Sheehan and Jamie Osborne each scored two tries, with Leinster's dominant kicking game and physicality overwhelming the reigning champions. Ryan Baird earned man of the match for his relentless energy, while Sam Prendergast's playmaking and RG Snyman's impact off the bench shone.

Bulls Form

Bulls had a strong 2024/25 United Rugby Championship campaign where a record of 14 wins and 4 defeats meant they qualified for a home quarter-final for the knockout stages. The strength of their challenge was built off a potent attack with their 542 points scored equal with their opponents for this final and table toppers Leinster. However, they were poorer in the South African Shield finishing 3rd of the four teams with a record of 3 wins and 3 defeats.

In their URC quarter-final, they put in a brilliant showing to win at home against Edinburgh 42-33 in a thriller which saw them have 6 different try-scorers this was their second win over the Scottish side this season following a 22-16 win last September.

They booked their place in the final following their semi-final victory over fellow South African side the Sharks 25-13 booking their third final appearance. Sebastian de Klerk, Canan Moodie, and David Kriel scored tries, with Johan Goosen’s kicking and Wilco Louw’s scrum dominance proving pivotal. Despite three yellow cards, the Bulls’ tactical kicking and defensive resilience outshone a Sharks side hampered by errors and Eben Etzebeth’s absence. De Klerk’s standout performance earned him man of the match.

Key Players

Jamison Gibson-Park– Leinster

Gibson-Park is widely regarded as one of, if not the best scrum-half in World Rugby, in their URC semi-final against Bull last year he was noted for being “quick to the breakdown and sharp with his passing,” cleaning up. His ability to control the tempo on Saturday will be crucial as well as his quick decision-making and accurate distribution.

Last weekend he orchestrated Leinster’s attack, floating a pass for Dan Sheehan’s early try and another big performance will be expected for the United Rugby Championship Final.

Jamison Gibson-Park Man of the Match - 9/1

Willie Le Roux – Bulls

Springboks Star Willie Le Roux has performed against Leinster before, in last season’s semi-final clash between both sides he was noted for his brilliant display where he showed precise kicking, assisting tries and exploiting Leinster’s rush defence. Leading the Bulls’ second-ranked URC kicking game, he’ll target territorial dominance. His playmaking creates opportunities for wingers like Moodie, vital with Hanekom out

Last weekend he was key again in their victory with his tactical kicking and playmaking helping the Bulls to control of territory which made all the difference in their win.

Willie Le Roux anytime try - 9/2

Leinster v Bulls Prediction & Best Bet

Prediction: Leinster 25-20 Bulls

Leinster have been the standout side in the URC this season and are heavy favourites for this game with good reason especially with home advantage this time at Croke Park.

Bulls have shown themselves to be more than capable of beating Leinster on multiple occasions and won’t fear the Irish side this weekend.

I’m expecting a tighter game than most, Leinster should still do enough but the Bulls may just cause them a scare.
