Odds
Shelbourne @ 4/5
Waterford @ 16/5
Draw @ 12/5
Preview
Three game weeks remain in the 2024 Premier Division season and Shelbourne find themselves at the top of the pile and with their destiny in their own hands. However, while that would have been a wild forecast pre-season it's made all the more remarkable that they still cling to 1st in the table despite only having 1 win in their last 6 league games. Duff deserves plaudits for getting the team to this point but will face massive criticism if they don’t win the league from here.
While Waterford have had a largely successful return to the Premier Division season where at one point they were looking at mounting a challenge for a European Place. The wheels have fallen off a little in recent weeks in the absence of Sam Sargeant in goal. They played out a 0-0 draw against Drogheda last time out which all but means they’re likely to finish the season in 7th place bar a Sligo Rovers collapse or Bohemians putting together a run of form.
Prediction: Shelbourne 2-0 Waterford
Shelbourne can’t keep fluffing their lines in this title race or they will relinquish control of their destiny this weekend, but I think they do enough to win.
Best Bet: Shelbourne Win + Under 2.5 Goals @ 11/4

St Patrick’s Athletic v Galway United– Friday 7.45 pm, LOI TV
Odds
St Patrick’s Athletic @ 23/20
Galway United @ 21/10
Draw @ 21/10
Preview
St Patrick’s Athletic are the form team in the country under Stephen Kenny, winning their last 8 games across all competitions since being knocked out of the Europa Conference League qualifying campaign. Such is their form including 5 wins in their last 5 in the league means they remarkably have hopes of winning a Premier Division title in the closing weeks of the season in what has been the most competitive title race in living memory.
Galway United have had an incredible return to the Premier Division which Caulfield and Horgan deserve immense plaudits for achieving this season with the side 5th with 3 games remaining and still technically in a title race. Though how attractive their football is at times leaves a lot to be desired, it’s effective and Galway supporters will have no qualms if they continue on their current trajectory.
Prediction: St Patrick’s Athletic 3-1 Galway United
St Patrick’s Athletic are flying in the final few weeks of the season and though Galway are a tough nut to crack (and still technically in a title race too) I think the home side win comfortably.
Best Bet: St Patrick’s Athletic @ 23/20

Drogheda v Shamrock Rovers– Friday 7.45 pm, LOI TV
Odds
Drogheda @ 14/5
Shamrock Rovers @ 3/4
Draw @ 13/5
Preview
It’ll be a key few weeks of the season for Kevin Doherty and Drogheda with 3 games remaining in the Premier Division they have an FAI Cup Final ahead of them but must first contend with retaining their league status either by putting together a run of form that sees them leapfrogging Bohemians or they will have to contend with a relegation playoff following their FAI Cup Final date next month.
Shamrock Rovers find themselves in the most unlikely of title races considering their slow start to the season but if they win their remaining games of the season it is very likely that will be enough to win another Premier Division title. Their 2-0 win over Shelbourne on Sunday was a huge momentum builder for what could be a dramatic end to the season.
Prediction: Drogheda 1-1 Shamrock Rovers
The two sides are in strong form though on polar opposite ends of the table, Shamrock Rovers have won 3 of the last 4 between both sides but I think this could be a scored draw.
Best Bet: Draw @ 13/5

Dundalk v Derry City– Friday 7.45 pm, LOI TV
Odds
Dundalk @ 9/2
Derry City @ 8/15
Draw @ 3/1
Preview
Dundalk are likely to have their Premier Division status finally finished this weekend after a poor season on and off the field. The more pertinent question for those involved in the club is whether the club's status can be secured for 2025 and whether the First Division rebuild can commence.
Derry City have fluffed their lines in equal measure to Shelbourne in recent weeks with only 3 points from their last 5 Premier Division games. Higgins has come under intense scrutiny and it's arguably deserved but if they win their remaining games across both competitions they will land themselves an FAI Cup and Premier Division double.
Prediction: Dundalk 1-1 Derry City
These teams know each other well and they have played out a competitive fixture in recent games with two draws in their last two games and I can see the same happening here.
Best Bet: Draw @ 3/1

Sligo Rovers v Bohemians– Saturday 7.45 pm, LOI TV
Odds
Sligo Rovers @ 8/5
Bohemians @ 11/8
Draw @ 23/10
Preview
Sligo Rovers are 6th with 48 points and 3 games remaining in their Premier Division season. Though it has been a strong season for the club under John Russell they probably have to go unbeaten with a minimum of 7 points to stand a chance of having European Football for the 2025 season.
Bohemians are sleepwalking to finish their season and with only 4 points from their last 5 Premier Division league matches they need a few more points to ensure that Drogheda doesn’t leapfrog them in the final few matches, though I’m not sure where if anywhere does points can come from on their current form.
Prediction: Sligo Rovers 1-0 Bohemians
John Russell is doing a brilliant job with Sligo Rovers and Bohemians are not outside the relegation playoff picture yet so I can see this being a home win.
Best Bet: Sligo Rovers @ 8/5
