Galway United have had a strong season so far currently occupying 5th place having played 22 games they’re only 3 points behind Shamrock Rovers with this game in hand over the Dublin side. However, in their last 5 matches, they have only accumulated 4 points which suggests signs of an impending fall down the table following the form of those below them, unless they can set their formbook right in the next few games.
Waterford may have finished 25 points below Galway last season in the First Division, but it’s Keith Long’s “Blues” who have adapted to Premier Division life even stronger with their 37-point total putting them 3rd and 3 ahead of Shamrock Rovers. What seemed like a pipe dream at the start of the season, is now a real reality with the chance of them qualifying for European Football next season a distinct possibility and maybe even a probability with 13 league games remaining in the season.
Prediction: Galway United 1-2 Waterford
While both have had positive seasons this season, the roles have reversed between both on who is flying highest this season. I can see Waterford walking away with the win in this game.

Bohemians are having a poor season, having finished in 6th place last season and were beaten FAI Cup Finalists it’s now looking unlikely that they will improve in the league this season with the side currently 8th with just 3 points from their last 5 league games. A further few defeats could potentially put them into the relegation dogfight, but with signings like Leigh Kavanagh from Brighton and the return of Ross Tierney to the club, you would suspect they have enough to pick up enough points in the coming weeks.
Sligo Rovers supporters at the start of the season would’ve said that their primary goal was to stay well clear of the relegation zone. However, with 23 games played and 31 points including 9 in their last 5 games, they now have an outside chance of qualifying for Europe in the remaining weeks of the season with that looking a more likely prospect than relegation anyways.
Prediction: Bohemians 1-2 Sligo Rovers
Two “fan-owned” clubs but one who is looking up the table (Sligo Rovers) and one (Bohemians) in danger of slipping down the table with further defeats. Had this been on budgets Bohemians would win comfortably but the away side are the better-run club right now and I think they win this.
Best Bet: Sligo Rovers @ 7/2

What a fall from grace it has been for Dundalk in recent years. Having dominated domestic football for years and breaking the European glass ceiling, poor decision-making and mismanagement now means they're fighting for their Premier Division lives at the bottom of the table. Jon Daly’s side has won 6 points from their last 5 league games which has seen them climb off the bottom of the table, but only 2 ahead of their Louth rivals.
Drogheda are an interesting case, despite having what seemed like a positive off-season on and off the field it hasn’t quite transpired for them in terms of results so far this season. Their 17-point total and 2 in their last 5 league games have put them bottom of the table. However, had you said to them at the start of the season they’d be 2 points behind Dundalk at this point of the season they’d have taken it. A win here would be huge for their survival aspirations.
Prediction: Dundalk 0-1 Drogheda
This is the biggest Louth Derby in years and a defeat for either side could prove faithful to their survival aspirations in the final few weeks of the season. I think there is very little between both teams this year so Drogheda are a great bet at 10/3.
Best Bet: Drogheda @ 10/3
