Shamrock Rovers v Sligo Rovers– Friday 7.45 pm,  LOI TV

Odds

Shamrock Rovers @ 4/11

Sligo Rovers @ 6/1

Draw @ 7/2

Preview

Shamrock Rovers may have Europa Conference League Football to look forward to in the coming months but following their 2-1 Dublin Derby defeat against Bohemians their chances of winning a fifth successive league title hang on by a thread with 9 games remaining in the season they might need close to a perfect record to stand any chance.

Sligo Rovers have been one of the stories of the season under John Russell, despite some huge injury issues, a young squad and a heavy recent defeat to Drogheda their recent 2-0 win over Waterford has them 3 rd in the Premier Division with 7 games remaining in their season. A victory here would put them in prime position to secure a European spot in the coming weeks.

Prediction: Shamrock Rovers 1-1 Sligo Rovers

Despite both clubs being at polar opposite ends when it comes to finances and resources, between both sides this season we’ve had one victory a piece and one draw. While Rovers did win their last home game against the Bit O’red, I fancy the away team to get something from the game.

Best Bet:  Sligo Rovers or Draw @ 19/10

Waterford v Dundalk – Friday 7.45 pm,  LOI TV

Odds

Waterford @ 8/11

Dundalk @ 16/5

Draw @ 13/5

Preview

While Waterford have had a brilliant return to the Premier Division this season for the most part shocking the masses with their consistency and level of performance. The wheels have begun to fall off in recent weeks with 4 defeats in their last 5 league games meaning they’ve slumped down to 5 th in the table with a lot of that down to the loss of influential figure Sam Sargeant in goal.

Dundalk on the other hand are currently bottom of the table with just 24 points from their 29 games they trail their Louth Derby rivals Drogheda by 1 point and +3 in the goal difference stakes. However, the issues run much deeper at the club when it comes to financial factors which has some supporters questioning both the short- and long-term future of the club.

Prediction: Waterford 2-0 Dundalk

Waterford may be stuck in a rut, but play a Dundalk side whose problems run far deeper on Friday Night and I think they could stick the knife in further and pick up a comfortable 3 points.

Best Bet: Waterford Win + Under 2.5 Goals @ 14/5

Kerry v Cork City– Friday 7.45 pm,  LOI TV

Odds

Kerry @ 11/2

Cork City @ 2/5

Draw @ 16/5

Preview

Kerry have had a far more positive 2024 in their second season of Senior Football at the Kingdom the signs seem to be very bright with regards to improvements and developments both on and off the field. Last week it was their second heartbreak in a number of weeks though when a 101st minute equaliser from Treaty denied them the win. This will be a very difficult game for them against the Champions but with 7 games remaining, they’ve far superseded their 10-point total from 2023 with 23 already this season.

Cork City confirmed their conquering of the First Division last weekend when their 0-1 away win over UCD secured promotion. The Rebel Army might be in a party mood in the closing weeks of the season but will use this opportunity now to assess their squad and make some final squad decisions before a crucial off-season under Tim Clancy who recently signed a new contract as Head Coach.

Prediction: Kerry 0-3 Cork City

Kerry and Cork City have played 3 times this season and while the First Division Champions have won on every occasion, it’s never been more than two goals. Could Friday Night be the night?

Best Bet: Cork City Win + Under 3.5 Goals @ 11/10

Finn Harps v Longford Town– Friday 7.45 pm,  LOI TV

Odds

Finn Harps @ 4/7

Longford Town @ 7/2

Draw @ 14/5

Preview

Finn Harps have built on what was a poor league showing last season and with 6 games remaining they remain in contention for a playoff spot following two victories in their last 2 games. There is little room for error though with them still 4 points behind Bray in 5 th immediately above them.

It’s been a miserable season for Longford Town with them routed at the bottom of the table with 6 games remaining on 21 points and behind Kerry FC in 9 th by 2. However, their recent 1-0 victory over Bray in their last games suggests there is a signs of life at the club at long last..

Prediction: Finn Harps 1-0 Longford Town

Harps’ fighting for the last playoff spot while Longford Town fighting to get off the bottom of the table. I don’t think there will be too much between both with home advantage being the primary factor for a Harps victory.

Best Bet: Draw -1 @ 5/2
