England Make Light Work Of Iran
Gareth Southgate’s side dominated the Group B opener as first half goals from Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling gave them a comfortable 3-0 lead at the interval. Saka added a second just after the hour mark before Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish both scored from the bench to send the Three Lions straight to the top of the group.
Three Lions Massive Favourites To Top Group B
BoyleSports have already slashed England into 1/7 from 3/10 to qualify for the knockout phases as Group B winners, and while they remain 7/1 to be crowned world champions for a second time, they are now joint third on the list of most likely winners as France were eased to 7/1 from 6/1 following news that Karim Benzema would miss the tournament through injury.
There is a lot at stake for England in winning Group B of this World Cup. So any slip-up in their next two games against the United States and Wales could have devastating consequences to their World Cup ambitions. If the Three Lions finish second in Group B they would likely have to play the Netherlands in their round of 16 game. This would be a much tougher matchup than Ecuador or Senegal who they would likely face if they are to go on and win Group B.
It gets worse too if the finish runner-up in this group as their most likely quarter-final opponent would be Argentina and most likely semi-final opposition being Brazil. Top spot in group B would mean France in the quarter-final and Spain in the semi-final would be the most likely route which is much easier than having to face the two tournament favourites.
Harry Kane Drifts In Golden Boot Betting Odds
Captain Harry Kane drew a blank before he was replaced by Callum Wilson and the Tottenham man has now been pushed out to 9/1 from 7/1 in the betting to finish the tournament on top of the scoring charts, with France striker Kylian Mbappe taking over as favourite at 7/1 from 8/1.
Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said:
Many were expecting a very tight and nervous opener for England and it was anything but, so they are picking up a bit of support in the hours after the final whistle.

"The 7/1 about them going all the way is under pressure for the first time, although Brazil and Argentina are still all the rage and it’ll be interesting to see if they start in a similar vein.”
