Fermanagh man McKenna to Chelsea?
Fermanagh man Kieran McKenna is the 4/1 second favourite with BoyleSports to be appointed next Chelsea manager after Mauricio Pochettino left the club after just one season in charge.
McKenna’s stock has risen after he guided Ipswich back to the Premier League and his achievements were recognised this week when Sir Alex Ferguson presented him with the League Manager’s Association manager of the year award.
Support for McKenna to get the job at Stamford Bridge means only Roberto De Zerbi is ahead of him in the early betting at 13/8 following his departure from Brighton and Hove Albion. Thomas Tuchel, who has confirmed he is leaving Bayern Munich as planned despite talks on a U-turn, is rated a less likely appointment than De Zerbi or McKenna at 8/1.
Pochettino to Man United?
Pochettino meanwhile has made a quick move into favourite to be the next permanent manager at Manchester United with the future of Erik ten Hag clouded in uncertainty ahead of the FA Cup Final this weekend, which presents the Red Devils’ last opportunity to secure European football next season.
Pochettino’s Chelsea exit saw him plummet into 5/2 from 33/1 for the Old Trafford hotseat should part-owners Ineos decide on a change, meaning the Argentine is now ahead of Gareth Southgate (7/2), Thomas Tuchel (5/1) and Kieran McKenna (10/1) on the list of potential replacements for Erik ten Hag.
