A rose from Kerry has not won the Rose of Tralee since the competition was opened to women outside of the county in 1967. This year’s Kerry Rose will be hoping to end that drought and if we are to go by the latest betting odds she is in with a great chance of doing just that.
Who is Kerry Rose Emer Dineen?
Emer Dineen is 23 years old and comes from Castlegregory, Co. Kerry. The village is located near the Atlantic coast, about a 30-minute drive from both Tralee and Dingle.
The Kingdom native boasts an impressive academic record having graduated from University College Dublin as a Radiographer. Emer currently works as a Paediatric Radiographer at Temple Street Hospital.
This year’s Kerry Rose has also been an avid volunteer in the community having worked as a lifeguard in Castlegregory and Ballyheigue and volunteering with Irish Water Safety and Barretstown. Not only is she a fluent Irish speaker but she is also learning Irish Sign Language and Lámh (a manual sign system).
In terms of sports, she is no stranger to success telling us her childhood was ‘filled with activities from swimming to cheerleading’. In her sporting endeavours, she has won medals at local, national, and international levels.

Derry Rose Darcy Taylor
The favourite for Rose of Tralee 2024 is Derry Rose Darcy Taylor at 11/4 in the betting at BoyleSports.
Taylor hails from Bellaghy, Co. Derry and currently works for BBC Radio Foyle with a Masters in Broadcast Media and Production to her credit.
Donegal Rose Niamh Shelvin
