BoyleSports has made Katie Taylor a red-hot 4/7 favourite to cement her status as the undisputed lightweight champion of the world on July 20th in Texas.

The Bray Bomber will renew her rivalry with Amanda Serrano, who she defeated via split decision in an all-time classic at Madison Square Garden in 2022. The bout, which was hailed as Sports Illustrated’s Fight of the Year, took place in front of a crowd of nearly 20,000 at the New York Venue but the highly anticipated rematch is expected to attract nearly 80,000 spectators in the AT&T Arena, home of the Dallas Cowboys.

With Taylor lauding the bout as ‘the rematch the world wants to see’, it’s the co-main event on the card alongside Jake Paul’s highly anticipated fight with former world heavyweight champion, Mike Tyson.

Serrano will enter the ring as the 11/8 underdog despite becoming the undisputed champion at featherweight in the wake of the MSG bout. ‘The Real Deal’ relinquished her featherweight belt to resume fighting 12 three-minute rounds but is set to return to ten two-minute rounds in Dallas.

Taylor Backed For RTÉ Sports Personality of the Year Award

Taylor, who has already picked up three RTÉ Sports Personality of the Year awards is well-fancied to pick up another by some savvy punters and has been backed into 10/1 from 16/1 in light of the announcement of the fight, as she bids to wrestle the award off last year’s winner Rhys McClenaghan (7/1) and swimming sensation Daniel Wiffen (5/4 favourite).

Fellow boxer Kellie Harrington, who will bid to defend her gold medal from Tokyo in Paris this summer, is rated a 6/1 shot. The Summerhill native confirmed that this summer’s Olympics will be her last as a competitor and would become just the second Irish athlete to successfully defend an Olympic title.

Brian O’Keeffe, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said:

“Punters are rallying behind Katie Taylor to make history in Dallas this summer as the Bray Bomber is set for another goliath bout. She may have entered the ring as an underdog against Chantelle Cameron in November, but she bounced back in style and she’ll be a firm favourite in Texas.”
