There is an excellent afternoon of National Hunt action this Saturday and we’ve picked out our top ITV racing tips from across the high-class cards at Haydock , Ascot and Punchestown.
With two elite-level contests, a couple of Grade Two events and several competitive handicaps featured in nine races on the box, armchair punters are spoilt for choice.
Saturday’s ITV Racing Tips from Haydock, Ascot & Punchestown
Ascot 13:30 Tip
ASCOT 13:30 – PIC D’ORHY
King George runner-up Il Est Francais will attract plenty of interest in the Ladbrokes 1965 Chase but Pic d’Orhy has a phenomenal record at Ascot and is rated the percentage pick.
Paul Nicholls ’ admirable 10-year-old was a narrow second in the Charlie Hall earlier this month and that should put him spot on as he attempts to claim this prize for the third straight year, while he has also won February’s Ascot Chase for the past couple of seasons.
Haydock 13:50 Tip
HAYDOCK 13:50 – THE JUKEBOX MAN
Ben Pauling ’s top prospect looked to have the world at his feet when landing the Kauto Star Novices’ Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day but then had his season cruelly curtailed by injury.
As such, The Jukebox Man has a 331-day absence to defy in the Betfair Exchange Graduation Chase but the Harry Redknapp -owned gelding has the class to overcome any rustiness.
Punchestown 14:10 Tip
PUNCHESTOWN 14:10 – LOSSIEMOUTH
With stablemate State Man denied the chance to bid for a third Unibet Morgiana Hurdle success by injury, Lossiemouth can give Willie Mullins a record-extending 14th win in this Grade One event.
The 2023 Triumph winner successfully defended her Mares’ Hurdle crown at Cheltenham in March and went on to make it seven elite-level strikes overall at Aintree .
Haydock 14:25 Tip
HAYDOCK 14:25 – NAVAJO INDY
Tom Symonds ’ six-year-old has proven an ultra-consistent performer over shorter distances, winning twice last season, and races as though a step up to three miles for the Betfair Stayers’ Handicap Hurdle will be no problem.
A good second of 20 at Cheltenham over two and a half miles on his seasonal return should have blown away any cobwebs.
Ascot 14:40 Tip
ASCOT 14:40 – CELTIC DINO
Sam Thomas has his string in rude health and this progressive type should have conditions to suit in the Ladbrokes Ascot Hurdle .
Always held in high regard, he was tuned up to win the Welsh Champion Hurdle on his reappearance and saw the form of that Chepstow victory franked when runner-up Alexei stormed to Greatwood Hurdle success last weekend.
Haydock 15:00
HAYDOCK 15:00 – HAITI COULEURS
Royale Pagaille bids to complete a hat-trick of Betfair Chase victories and last year’s runner-up Grey Dawning is back for another crack at this Grade One feature, but Haiti Couleurs is fancied to establish himself as a major force in the staying division by claiming top honours.
The Rebecca Curtis -trained eight-year-old flourished when sent over fences last term, with his four wins including a clear-cut victory at the Cheltenham Festival and a fantastic display at Fairyhouse to land the BOYLE Sports Irish Grand National .
With a winning comeback over hurdles at Newbury already under his belt, he will be fully primed to continue climbing the chasing ladder and further fuel dreams of a Gold Cup tilt.
