ITV Racing Tips – Saturday Cheltenham & Wetherby Best Bets
Cheltenham 13:45 Tip
CHELTENHAM 13:45 – JULY FLOWER
Henry de Bromhead’s six-year-old receives a handy mares’ allowance and should be tough to beat in the Paddy Power Arkle Challenge Trophy Trial Novices’ Chase.
The French import scored in Grade Three company over the smaller obstacles at Leopardstown on her first start for De Bromhead last December and then ran well for a long way when fifth behind Lossiemouth in the Mares’ Hurdle here.
July Flower made an impressive switch to chasing at Limerick a month ago and had plenty of good runs across the Channel on heavy ground should conditions become testing.
Cheltenham 14:20 Tip
CHELTENHAM 14:20 – CONYERS HILL
There hasn’t been an Irish-based winner of the Paddy Power Gold Cup since Tranquil Sea in 2009 but with this year’s race being run in memory of his legendary trainer Edward O’Grady, this would be a nice time to end that barren run.
Conyers Hill raced as though this step up to two and a half miles will suit when sixth of 20 in the Grand Annual at the Festival and was an encouraging second at Limerick on his seasonal reappearance.
Paul Nolan may not have the firepower of old but showed he is still a great target trainer when Daily Present won the Kim Muir in March and late rain will suit this weekend’s raider, who is on a lovely racing weight and has the right profile for this contest.
Cheltenham 14:55 Tip
CHELTENHAM 14:55 – LONG DRAW
Olly Murphy’s charge claimed two course wins last term and still looks a strong contender for the From The Horses Mouth Podcast Handicap Hurdle despite now being 20lb higher than when second at this meeting 12 months ago.
The six-year-old should strip fitter than when catching the eye making late headway in fourth at the October meeting.
Wetherby 15:10 Tip
WETHERBY 15:10 – FRESH PERSPECTIVE
Already a point-to-point and bumper scorer, Jamie Snowden’s five-year-old made a big impression when winning comfortably by eight lengths on his debut over obstacles under rules at Fontwell and can build on that by landing the BOYLE Sports Best Odds Guaranteed ‘Introductory’ Hurdle.
Cheltenham 15:30 Tip
CHELTENHAM 15:30 – FRENCH SHIP
Philip Hobbs and Johnson White have sent out a number of nice winners this season and this was one of them when bolting up in a 20-runner event at the last Cheltenham meeting.
French Ship has been raised 8lb ahead of the Paddy Power Intermediate Handicap Hurdle but connections will be disappointed if he does not end up a good bit higher than his new mark of 136.
Wetherby 15:43 Tip
WETHERBY 15:43 – VINTAGE FIZZ
Last year’s Grand Sefton runner-up will presumably have been primed for a return to Aintree a week ago but was badly hampered by a faller at the third fence before being pulled up, so the BOYLE Sports Home Of The Early Payout Handicap Chase comes at a nice time to seek some compensation.
