ASCOT 12:55 – TRAWLERMAN
ASCOT 12:55 – TRAWLERMAN
The seven-year-old has established himself as the top dog in the staying division this summer, with an emphatic Gold Cup success at Royal Ascot followed by victory in the Lonsdale Cup at York, and he is difficult to oppose in the Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup.
ASCOT 13:30 – DIVISION
ASCOT 13:30 – DIVISION
Mill Reef winner Words Of Truth is a firm favourite for the Qipco British Champions Day Two-Year-Old Conditions Stakes, but the William Haggas-trained Division has done nothing wrong in completing a hat-trick at Haydock, Yarmouth and York and there may still be more improvement to come.
ASCOT 14:05 - KIND OF BLUE
ASCOT 14:05 - KIND OF BLUE
James Fanshawe’s four-year-old got off to a shaky start this term, but his last two efforts have been more encouraging, with a third-place finish in the Phoenix Sprint in Ireland followed by filling the runner-up spot in the Sprint Cup at Haydock.
Kind Of Blue was second in the same race last season before going on to scramble home in the Qipco British Champions Sprint and is a value bet to repeat the trick.
ASCOT 14:45 – ESTRANGE
ASCOT 14:45 – ESTRANGE
Followed up a Haydock double by chasing home subsequent Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe runner-up Minnie Hauk in the Yorkshire Oaks and should go well in the British Champions Fillies and Mares Stakes if fully recovered from an unsatisfactory scope that ruled her out of a trip to Paris.
ASCOT 15:25 – DOCKLANDS
ASCOT 15:25 – DOCKLANDS
The Queen Elizabeth II Stakes is full of question marks, with the much-vaunted Field Of Gold making his comeback from defeat and injury, while chief market rival Rosallion bids to get his head in front for the first time this term following several near-misses.
However, we do know that Queen Anne winner Docklands saves his best efforts for Ascot’s straight mile and is a tempting price to make it four course wins.
ASCOT 16:05 – OMBUDSMAN
ASCOT 16:05 – OMBUDSMAN
John and Thady Gosden’s charge is taken to come out on top in his rubber match with Delacroix in the Qipco Champion Stakes.
There was a suggestion that William Buick may have kicked for home a touch too soon when reeled in by the Irish raider in the closing stages of the Eclipse at Sandown, but Ombudsman was an emphatic winner of round two in York’s Juddmonte International.
Delacroix has since claimed the Irish Champion Stakes but may find a fresh Ombudsman too strong at Ascot, where the latter was so impressive in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at the Royal meeting.
ASCOT 16:40 – HOLLOWAY BOY
ASCOT 16:40 – HOLLOWAY BOY
Has to carry top weight in the Balmoral Handicap and has been absent since April, but Karl Burke’s Group Three winner has a touch of class.
