Which race will have the biggest upset?
Doncaster 13:25 – Montassib
Doncaster 13:25 – Montassib
The 2024 Group One Haydock Sprint Cup hero did not make his seasonal reappearance until September due to a setback but has now run with credit on a couple of occasions.
Following a promising third at Newbury, he was far from disgraced when seventh of 19 at elite level in Ascot’s British Champions Sprint and the Virgin Bet Supports Safe Gambling Wentworth Stakes is a far easier test.
Wincanton 14:23 – Blueking d’Oroux
Wincanton 14:23 – Blueking d’Oroux
Paul Nicholls is usually worth following at this meeting and the former champion trainer is taken to land another Boodles Rising Stars Novices’ Chase, a race he has won more than 10 times, with the likes of See More Business, Silviniaco Conti and Frodon on that roll of honour.
Blueking d’Oroux was a Grade Two scorer over hurdles who has always been tipped to do even better over fences and he can make amends for a recent odds-on defeat.
Doncaster 14:35 – Duran
Doncaster 14:35 – Duran
Nigel Tinkler’s likeable four-year-old should relish stepping back up to six furlongs in the Virgin Bet Daily Price Boosts Handicap.
He was putting in all his best work at the finish on Town Moor last time out but fell just a neck short over the minimum trip, which makes this longer test look ideal and Duran can deliver a knockout blow to his rivals.
Aintree 14:40 – Gaboriot
Aintree 14:40 – Gaboriot
The Grand National fences are in action for the William Hill Grand Sefton Handicap Chase and Gaboriot is fancied to go well here again after finishing third in the same contest 12 months ago.
His campaign petered out after that sterling effort but that leads to him returning to Liverpool on a 3lb lower mark.
Doncaster 15:45 – Master Vintner
Doncaster 15:45 – Master Vintner
Ralph Beckett’s Lord Melbourne bids to repeat last year’s victory in the Virgin Bet November Handicap but stablemate Master Vintner may be a better option this time around.
The three-year-old was a fine third to subsequent St Leger winner Scandinavia at Navan on his sole start in Ireland and has scored nicely at Goodwood and Lingfield since being switched to Kimpton Down Stables.
Already proven on an easy surface, an opening handicap mark of 92 could underestimate his ability.
