Dropping back down to 10 furlongs is expected to suit and William Buick’s mount won’t be inconvenienced by any ease in the ground following the recent rain.

The Godolphin juvenile was gelded after a moderate debut run and has since got his act together to record convincing victories at Ascot and Newmarket.
Stepping up to Group Two company in the Mill Reef Stakes represents a significant hike in grade, but Charlie Appleby has chosen to run him here ahead of other proven performers, so that has to be considered a good omen.

Michael Dods is as shrewd as they come when it comes to training sprinters and this lightly-raced three-year-old looks a strong contender for top honours in the Ayr Gold Cup.
Having scored twice as a juvenile, the son of Mehmas returned to winning ways when landing a valuable 20-runner handicap at York’s Ebor Festival.
Although now carrying a 5lb penalty for that head success, he appeared to win cosily enough to suggest there is more improvement to come and a high draw in stall 19 should help.
