Ballymac Finn was electric from boxes to win comfortably by three lengths in 29.36 with his odds cut into 14/1 from 20/1 with the sponsors.
But he is not the only Dowling star to shorten as Hoodoo Brown has been trimmed into 33/1 from 40/1 after catching the eye with his huge performance in second place.
He clocked a sensational 29.27 earlier this year in the Shelbourne Champion 550 opening round so the ability is there, he just hasn’t been breaking as well as he can.
Another eye-catching performance on Saturday night came from Annagh Bailey who won in a career best of 29.64.
This September 2020 whelped son of Droopys Sydney and Bellmore Fantasy finished strong to win heat 14 and the Rachel Wheeler-trained star is now 50/1 from 100/1 in the betting.
Other heat winners that have been trimmed include Storys Peewee who is 50/1 from 100/1, Macho Pride who is 50/1 from 66/1 and the impressive Born Warrior who is 12/1 from 20/1.
Coolavanny Hoffa has been eased slightly to 6/1 from 5/1, but remains the new favourite with Ballinabola Ed 8/1 from 10/1 after his 29.27 win.
Sarah Kinsella, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said: “The second round of the BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby was brilliant with Coolavanny Hoffa the star.
"The Michael J O’Donovan speedster clocked the fastest time of the competition so far in 29.13 and he is now the 6/1 favourite from 12/1.
"There were terrific performances across the 16 heats with Hoodoo Brown running a big race to finish second to Ballymac Finn.
"Hoodoo is 33/1 from 40/1 and has been catching the eye of plenty of shrewd punters ahead of some very exciting third-round heats.”
