Mayo Irish Election Tips
With 5 seats up for grabs in Mayo and 4 of those looking more or less nailed on, it leaves us with a situation where the betting interest here is in who will take that 5th seat.
One line of thought ahead of this constituency is whether or not the four-candidate strategy will pay dividends for Fine Gael, but the last time they did in 2011 all four were elected. Times have changed from that record-breaking election though and they aren’t guaranteed to even win two this time around.
In 2020 Michael Ring topped the poll with 23% of the first preference vote with Rose-Conway Walsh, Dara Calleary, Lisa Chambers and Alan Dillon being elected.
Fine Gael are there for the taking though and I’d be looking at Paul Lawless (Aontu) and Patsy O’Brien (Independent) to be thereabouts for a seat during the count.
