An early rush of bets in favour of Irish-trained horses at Cheltenham means the odds on Ireland claiming the bragging rights in the Prestbury Cup this year are at their lowest ever mark going into any Festival.
Great Britain won the first two instalments of the Prestbury Cup when it was introduced in 2014, but Irish-trained horses have ruled the roost at the Festival in four of the past five years with the 2019 contest finishing in a tie.
Who will be the Top Trainer at Cheltenham?
Irish trainers were originally made 1/2 favourites by BoyleSports to land the spoils this year, but they quickly sank into 1/5 after the market opened. Great Britain are 5/1 outsiders to come out with more winners after the final race next Friday.
The Gold Cup betting is currently very close between two candidates trained on each side of the Irish sea, with Willie Mullins’ Al Boum Photo the 5/2 favourite, while the Nicky Henderson-trained Champ is 9/2 to deny him a hat-trick in the race.

Strong support for Willie Mullins’ contingent alone has given us a clear favourite this time. Ireland have mostly ruled the roost in recent years.""
